Sharp unveils XP-X171Q 4K laser projector with up to 16,500 lumens brightness
Sharp has unveiled the XP-X171Q, a new laser projector in its X Series. This model is designed for businesses; for example, it could be used in a conference room, a classroom or a museum.
The XP-X171Q is marketed as a 4K UHD projector with a laser light source for up to 16,500 lumens brightness. Unfortunately, an equivalent measurement from an internationally recognized standard, like ISO or ANSI lumens, has not been provided. According to Sharp, the blue laser is behind this higher brightness level, while the red assist laser makes color more vivid. The light source is expected to last for 20,000 hours without needing maintenance. The DLP projector’s screen has a WUXGA 1,920 x 1,200 px resolution for a 16:10 aspect ratio image.
According to Sharp, the XP-X171Q is compatible with a wide range of motorized lenses. The throw ratio can vary from 0.31 to 4.00 depending on your choice of lens. Input ports on the device include two HDMI 2.0 (HDCP 2.2/1.4) and HDBaseT. Plus, ProAssist software can be used to remotely control the projector or several linked projectors from a computer. It is worth noting that the model does not appear to have built-in speakers. The pricing of the Sharp XP-X171Q laser projector has yet to be officially announced.
