BenQ W2720i 4K UHD projector launched: HDR10+, 2500 ANSI lumens, Dolby Atmos, and AI cinema mode
BenQ has unveiled a new 4K UHD projector — the W2720i — with a native resolution of 3840 × 2160. With a brightness of 2500 ANSI lumens, it claims to deliver clear images even in well-lit rooms. The projector supports a wide color gamut, covering 90% of the DCI-P3 color space and 98% of Rec. 709. It also features a contrast ratio of 500,000:1.
The W2720i is equipped with a 4LED light source with a lifespan of up to 30,000 hours in Eco mode, which should reduce the need for maintenance. It supports HDR formats including HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG for enhanced dynamic range and improved contrast. Picture modes like Filmmaker Mode and AI Cinema allow users to adjust image settings according to their preferences or content type.
For connectivity, the projector includes three HDMI 2.1 ports (with HDCP 2.3), eARC, S/PDIF, USB Type-A, and RS232, making it compatible with various devices such as Blu-ray players, streaming devices, and gaming consoles. The audio system supports 7.1-channel sound and Dolby Atmos transmission via eARC for a high-quality audio experience.
Additional features include a vertical lens shift of ±5% and trapezoidal adjustment of up to 30 degrees, both vertical and horizontal, for flexible installation. The W2720i operates at noise levels as low as 26 dBA in Eco mode, and comes with a remote control and optional accessories like 3D glasses. The projector is now available on BenQ's website for £1,999 (~$2592), although it's out of stock at the time of writing.
