Anbernic RG406H: New retro gaming handheld pictured before official announcement with 720p display and PS2 emulation rumoured
Anbernic is preparing to release another retro gaming handheld, likely before the end of the year. For context, hardly any time has passed since the company launched the RG406V (curr. $226.99 on Amazon). Nonetheless, it has since offered up the RG CubeXX as a cheaper alternative to the RG Cube. On top of that, it will be launching its first wireless controller tomorrow.
However, a new leak suggests that a horizontal version of the RG406V is also on the way. As far as we can tell, the so-called RG406H is the same device that was previously thought of as the RG406P. Thus, it has a horizontal layout that resembles the RG Cube at first glance thanks to its d-pad, joystick and ABXY layout.
With that being said, the RG406H is expected to launch with a 4-inch and 4:3 IPS display that outputs at 720p. If the RG406H follows all of the RG406V's specifications, then it should run Android 13 with a 5,500 mAh battery, 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage.
Moreover, it would seem that Anbernic will return to the Unisoc T820 chipset, which it will keep in check with a small active cooling solution. Although release details are unknown for now, we suspect the RG406H will be available sometime in November.
