A source posting on Chinese social media may have revealed Anbernic's next gaming handheld. Allegedly, the company could be returning to the RG Arc series with the RG ArcXX, which will swap out the Rockchip RK3566 for Anbernic's frequently used Allwinner H700.

Almost a year has passed since Anbernic released the RG Arc in D and S variants (curr. $68.99 on Amazon). Nonetheless, the company has not rested on its laurels when it comes to releasing new hardware.

Instead, it has offered up new devices monthly from January onwards, culminating in the RG CubeXX earlier this week. Now, rumours have emerged on Bilibili that the company may soon replace the RG Arc with the RG ArcXX.

As it stands, expectations seem rather low for what could be Anbernic's next gaming handheld. Specifically, it seems that Anbernic only intends to swap out the Rockchip RK3566 used in the RG Arc-S and RG Arc-D for the Allwinner H700.

If that is the case, then it would see the RG ArcXX broadly offering the same performance as its predecessor while maintaining its 4-inch and 480p display. Currently, it remains to be seen whether Anbernic intends to release single and dual-boot variants this time around, or if other upgrades are planned. Likewise, a release date is unknown for now too.
