Anbernic RG CubeXX: New pocket-sized gaming handheld released globally capable of Dreamcast, N64, PS1 and PSP emulation
Anbernic has now started selling the RG CubeXX as a cheaper alternative to the RG Cube (curr. $196.99 on Amazon) that debuted in late spring. As expected, Anbernic has decided to offer its latest gaming handheld in three colour options, which it refers to as Black, Grey and White. Additionally, the trio can be configured with one of four memory options.
In short, the RG CubeXX is considerably less powerful than the existing RG Cube. Specifically, Anbernic equips the former with the same Allwinner H700 chipset that powers many of its recent RG35XX series devices. Likewise, the RG CubeXX features 1 GB of LPDDR4 RAM.

As a result, the RG CubeXX is likely to top out at Dreamcast, N64 and PS1 games, with a few PSP titles thrown in for good measure. However, it remains to be seen if the device's 720p display will limit emulation performance compared to the 480p equivalent inside RG35XX series devices. For reference, Anbernic has equipped the RG CubeXX with a 3.95-inch IPS panel that also has a 1:1 aspect ratio.
Currently, Anbernic's latest gaming handheld starts at $59.99 with a 32 GB MicroSD card in any of its three colour options. Please note that this price is set to rise to $66.99 on October 25. Alternatively, the RG CubeXX can be configured with secondary 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB MicroSD cards for $67.99, $74.99 and $89.99, respectively.
