Last week, we reported that people had been complaining about their ears reacting to wearing Galaxy Buds Pro or Galaxy Buds2 earbuds. While this is not necessarily a problem unique to the Galaxy Buds Pro, reports have been piling up about something in Samsung's earbuds causing ear infections.
Samsung is yet to address the matter publicly. However, it has responded to our German-speaking colleagues who contacted Samsung directly. The company did not respond to any questions posed, but it did have this to say:
The satisfaction of our customers is a top priority for Samsung. We encourage customers to contact us if they notice a reaction when wearing in-ear headphones, as prolonged use can cause irritation when in contact with sweat or skincare products. Customers who have questions about the Galaxy Buds Pro or Galaxy Buds2 can contact Samsung Customer Service.
Unfortunately, Samsung's statement does not reveal why the Galaxy Buds Pro or Galaxy Buds2 would be causing more ear infections than other earbuds. Android Central theorises that a switch in materials could be the issue. In saying that, the charging pins on the Galaxy Buds Pro make direct skin contact at roughly the same area where ear irritation occurs.
Either way, we would recommend seeking out other earbuds until Samsung formally addresses the issue. We shall update this article accordingly if Samsung elaborates on the matter.
