Samsung is now tipped to add a new kind of wearable to its health-tracking portfolio soon. The OEM has allegedly left a new menu alluding to the addition of support for smart rings in the new beta for a first-party app. Accordingly, the Galaxy Watch series could be joined by alternative accessories soon.

Smart rings are emerging as one of the most prominent alternatives to smartwatches, often touted by their makers as the more powerful and accurate wearable in terms of some popular domains of health-tracking metrics. Now, Samsung is believed to try and take over the market with its own Galaxy-flavored version.

The latest piece of potential evidence to support that theory comes in the form of a Reddit post claiming to have found a new "Ring Support" option, tucked away at the bottom of a "Feature List" menu in the Samsung Health app.

Then again, it is not found in the 'official' or stable version of the app, but rather its latest developer/enthusiast preview, or beta, counterpart. Therefore, there is no guarantee that the new uses of the word "Ring" in Samsung Health beta v6.24.1.023 will be replicated in a future update for the general public.

Alternatively, it is also thought to pertain to an update that supports existing, third-party smart rings, and not an upcoming product from Samsung specifically - one might expect more slick Galaxy-series branding more up front and central in the UI in that case, after all.
