Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 14
The Galaxy Book4 Edge 14 boasts an ultra-slim design with a 14-inch 120 Hz OLED touchscreen and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor. It delivers solid performance for everyday tasks and operates quietly, but the Copilot+ PC disappoints when it comes to battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge proves that Arm-powered PCs can deliver the performance to take on the best. It is snappy, quiet and maintains its top performance even when unplugged – something Intel or AMD-powered laptops cannot manage. But where it fails to deliver is on the promise of long battery life. With eight hours of working battery it only matches the supposedly more power-hungry Intel machines, falling far short of Apple’s MacBooks that last up to twice as long. The screen is great, the keyboard is decent and the old-school trackpad is enormous. The machine is certainly thin and light, particularly in its 16in version as tested. But the design is rather dull. The Galaxy Book 4 Edge is a good, but not great machine. Unless you are a Samsung aficionado and can tap into the company’s wider ecosystem, such as its Galaxy phones and earbuds, then there are better Copilot+ PCs options available for similar money.

The Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge offers a sleek, ultra-thin design in a unique Sapphire Blue finish, blending gray, silver, and a hint of blue. Available in 14-inch and 16-inch models, the larger 16-inch version delivers an immersive experience thanks to its AMOLED display, which offers vibrant colors, deep blacks, and excellent clarity for content consumption and image editing. Despite its size, the Book4 Edge is surprisingly lightweight and portable, weighing just 3.4 pounds and measuring only 0.48 inches thick. It’s easy to carry and ideal for working on the go, though the large screen is best used on a stable surface. The laptop includes a solid selection of ports for modern connectivity. On the left side, there are an HDMI and two USB-C ports, while the right features a microSD card slot, headphone jack, and a USB-A port—an increasingly rare addition in ultra-thin laptops. The full-size keyboard offers a functional layout, but the number pad on the right side feels cramped. The trackpad is spacious and responsive, making navigation across the expansive display smooth. Under the hood, the Galaxy Book4 Edge is powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processor, a high-performance chip that delivers smooth operation and fast response times. Windows 11 runs efficiently, with faster wake times and improved multitasking capabilities. The processor also supports AI-driven features like Samsung's Copilot app, which can be accessed via a dedicated key. Copilot enables tasks such as answering questions, performing calculations, and even generating images using DALL-E 3. Though AI features are useful, it’s important to verify the information as AI-generated content can sometimes be inaccurate. The Copilot app also supports productivity tools and integrates well with other Galaxy devices, allowing for seamless file sharing and phone mirroring.
In terms of performance, the Book4 Edge excels in both everyday tasks and optimized applications, making it ideal for productivity and light creative work. However, some software that isn’t optimized for the Snapdragon platform may encounter compatibility issues. Samsung’s ecosystem integration is a highlight, especially if you own a Galaxy phone or tablet, as the laptop allows easy syncing of texts, files, and even control of the phone directly from the laptop. Battery life on the Galaxy Book4 Edge is less impressive. While AMOLED displays generally consume more power, the laptop achieves just under 10 hours of video playback, which is decent but not outstanding compared to competitors like the Dell XPS 13 (20 hours) or Surface Laptop 7 (15 hours). Nonetheless, with its quick wake-from-sleep functionality, the device is efficient enough for a full workday if topped off periodically. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge is a versatile and sleek ultrabook, ideal for users seeking a portable and powerful device with solid performance and vibrant visuals. However, its battery life could be improved, and users should consider whether the price aligns with their needs in terms of longevity and efficiency.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS: An integrated graphics adapter that four Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors feature, as of Sep 2024. It has 1,536 unified shaders at its disposal that are said to run at up to 1,250 MHz. The underlying architecture is reportedly in many respects the same as what was used in the Adreno 730. While thankfully faster than the aging Intel Iris Xe (96 EUs), the Adreno fails to match the Radeon 780M meaning Baldur's Gate 3, a triple-A title released in 2023, is barely playable at 1080p on low with 23 fps on average. Triple-A games of 2024 fare even worse, in no small part due to Qualcomm's subpar graphics drivers.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

SD X Elite X1E-80-100: A pretty fast ARM architecture processor (SoC) for use in Windows laptops. The X1E-80-100 is the second-fastest member of the Snapdragon X series, as of May 2024; as such, it has 12 Oryon CPU cores running at up to 4.0 GHz, the 3.8 TFLOPS Adreno X1-85 GPU, the 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU and an impressively fast LPDDR5x-8448 memory controller. USB 4.0, TB 4 and PCIe 4 support is onboard, too.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.
