Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus XE550XGA

80.7% Beautiful, fast, but power-hungry: The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus review | Notebookcheck
The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus impresses with its ultra-slim aluminum body and exceptionally brilliant AMOLED display that sets new standards in this class. It also delivers good performance thanks to the Intel Core 3, but has a steep price tag.
90% Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus Review
Source: PC Mag English
Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook Plus sets the benchmark for its class. Its AMOLED screen and ultra-lightweight design set it above most Chromebooks, and the smart keyboard changes and exceptional battery life make it more productive than ever. While its webcam and speakers could use some improvements, those are minor issues in the grand scheme. Another consideration is its relatively high price, but the stunning screen and premium metal build should convince most buyers seeking a machine that looks as good as it performs that it’s worth the investment. The Galaxy Chromebook Plus rates our Editors' Choice award for premium clamshell-style Chromebooks; also consider Acer's Chromebook Plus Spin 714 if you're after a high-end 2-in-1 design.

Source: Trusted Reviews English
The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus impresses with its sleek design, solid power and excellent endurance. It also features a solid port selection and decent AMOLED display. It’s just little things that let it down such as thinner speakers. Moreover, other Chromebooks at this price point are arguably a little cleverer, such as the Acer Chromebook Spin 714 (Intel 13th Gen) coming with a 2-in-1 form factor and touchscreen, but lacks the benefit of an OLED screen. It is swings and roundabouts at this top end of the Chromebook market, but Samsung’s option does a sublime job to stake the claim of the best Chromebook we’ve tested.

80% I just tested Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook Plus — and it’s making me believe in Google’s laptops again
Source: Tom's Guide English
The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus is finally putting Chromebooks back on my radar, which I never expected to happen. It’s a completely capable notebook for most people, as it’s snappy in the places that count the most. Having a suite of apps on the Play Store further expands its helpfulness, but it’s the AMOLED display, comfortable keyboard and touchpad, wicked battery life (for a Chromebook) and lightweight design that really makes this Chromebook shine. Even with its strange “Plus” key placement, wide chassis and pricier-than-most cost, it’s still one of the best Chromebooks I’d recommend. If you’re after more of a 2-in-1 device that’s less expensive, check out the Acer Chromebook Spin 714.

100% Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus review: Incredible value for an OLED Chromebook with AI smarts
Source: It Pro English
Yes. The ExpertBook CX54 is still the best Chromebook money can buy, thanks to a superior all-around spec and higher-resolution screen, but the Galaxy Chromebook Plus beats it in some regards and doesn't feel markedly inferior in the rest. And while you have all the usual scenarios where Chrome OS devices come second best to more traditional laptops – especially for high-end creative, design, or video work, where the app selection is limited - there are still many support and productivity scenarios where Chromebooks can work every bit as well, if not more efficiently. If that might work in your organization, the Galaxy Chromebook Plus might be the perfect, affordable device to find out with.

78% Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus review: Quirky in ways both good and bad
Source: Engadget English
Despite some misgivings, I actually enjoyed my time with the Galaxy Chromebook Plus. I probably wouldn’t pick it as my own personal computer, because the number pad I won’t use simply makes things too awkward. But there’s also a lot to like here – it’s so much lighter and thinner than other Chromebooks I usually use that it is a delight to travel with, despite the fact that its width is a bit cumbersome. And while I wish there was more vertical screen resolution, I did enjoy having such a large display combined in a very portable device. For the right kind of buyer, the Galaxy Chromebook Plus might be just what you’re looking for (especially if the idea of a number pad on the keyboard excites you). For me, though, the slightly more boring but reliable Acer Chromebook Spin 714 Plus remains my favorite premium Chromebook. But Samsung has put forward a solid effort here, and I hope they continue on this path with future Chromebooks – Acer and Lenovo could use the competition.

100% Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus review: sets a new standard
Source: Stuff TV English
The Galaxy Chromebook Plus is my new favourite ChromeOS laptop. Samsung has delivered a sublime ultraportable that’s up there with the Windows competition for dimensions, display, and battery life. It’s easily powerful enough for the sorts of jobs Chromebooks excel at, and isn’t short on connectivity either. Personally I could live without the squeezed-in number pad, and would’ve preferred a full-size SD card slot instead of microSD, but you might feel different. With no touchscreen or reversible hinge it’s also missing the 2-in-1 appeal you’ll find in some rival Chromebooks, which cost considerably less. Few can match the Samsung for portability or a premium build, though. If you’re happy to pay a premium for that, and ChromeOS ticks all your boxes, it’s a fantastic laptop.

80% Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus review: A lightweight Chromebook with a little extra
Source: Laptop Mag English
It's clear Chromebooks are entering new territory. While Samsung's Galaxy Chromebook Plus isn't the first premium Chromebook, it's probably the best. This year's addition avoids the $1,000 price tag and delivers a more than serviceable laptop for web browsing and general computing needs with some perks to really love — being thin and light with a screen that's big and bright. If you want to save some money, you could pick up the Acer Chromebook Plus 515 for $299 at Best Buy or the HP Chromebook Plus 14a for around $400 but just know that you’ll be sacrificing some performance and also won’t be able to take advantage of the Galaxy Chromebook Plus’ class-beating weight and thinness. If you need a portable machine that's lightweight and versatile for web browsing, word processing, and what most might consider everyday internet usage, then the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus is a solid option.

90% Review: Samsung's Galaxy Chromebook Plus is the best I've used in years
Source: Android Police English
Chromebooks aren't for everyone, but for those looking for the OS's simpleness or its expansive support for Linux and Android, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus feels like the first Chromebook to nail the experience. Sure, this laptop is still running ChromeOS, so you'll have to deal with Manifest V3 and its limitations in Chrome (since there is no way to change the browser), but the overall polish is hard to deny. Despite the large screen, the hardware is slick and plenty portable, offering the build quality everyone expects from Samsung. The software finally feels focused, where even Android and Linux apps don't look especially out of place. At the same time, the lack of a high-refresh rate feels like an odd choice at this price point.

Buy a Chromebook in 2024? | Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus v2 Review
Source: Tech Spurt English
Reviewing the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus v2 (2024), one of most premium Chrome OS laptops - but is it worth it? I've been testing the Galaxy Chromebook Plus for a week now so here's my verdict on the battery life, features, gaming performance etc. Samsung's portable notebook is lightweight and boasts a gorgeous OLED screen. Creators, students and mobile workers will appreciate the Galaxy Chromebook Plus v2's accurate colour reproduction and sharp contrast. You've also got a respectable speaker setup and a comfortable keyboard for touch typing. Your port selection is respectable despite the skinny design. And performance is okay too although like other Chrome OS devices, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus v2 is best for cloud gaming.

90% Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus Review: Samsung is back! [VIDEO]
Source: Chrome Unboxed English
But those cut corners are pretty minimal in my book. I can upgrade to a USB webcam if I need to, I don’t listen to a ton of audio directly from any Chromebook, and I don’t actually use a numeric keypad very often. If those things are deal-breakers for you, take note. I don’t point them out just because I’m looking for something to nitpick – they are all legitimately sub-par for a device that is otherwise wonderful to use. And I really do mean that last bit. For a person like me, this Chromebook simply nails the necessities so well that I can simply overlook the stuff it doesn’t excel at. With this chassis, screen, keyboard, trackpad and performance, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus has been a real joy to use for me.

80% Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus review: Slim, sleek, and powerful
Source: PC World English
The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus is an exciting, if not explosive entry in the world of Chromebooks. It’s almost paper thin, making it a fantastic portable option for those who are always on-the-go, and it’s so lightweight you’ll barely notice it’s there inside your bag. While day-to-day performance is lightning fast and the unique colorway will no doubt turn heads, you’ll be in for a learning curve with the keyboard and the Quick Insert key is hardly a necessary feature. The AMOLED display, though it produces a beautiful picture, doesn’t have touch capabilities, which is a disappointment given the high price of this machine. The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus is a near-perfect device, but the cost ($699.99 at MSRP) is a little too high for a laptop without a touchscreen, a premium feature I’d expect to see in this price range.

This lightweight laptop has one of the best displays I've seen - and it's very affordable
Source: Zdnet.com English
Samsung's Galaxy Chromebook Plus is one of the best Chromebooks I've had the chance to test, and I recommend it for anyone that wants an ultraportable device with a brilliant display. This is the Chromebook that's leading the charge with all the new AI-powered features, so if you're an AI power user, or a fan of ChromeOS for work or play, this is the device for you. The hardware on board this device is optimized for work-related tasks, browsing, and some light creative work, and the display is just premium enough to make for an all-around enjoyable experience, while keeping the price to an agreeable $699.

80% I love the ultra-thin Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus for its display and design, but is that enough?
Source: Android Authority English
Ultimately, that’s the decision you need to make here. Remember that the software features are the same across all Chromebook Plus machines. Ignoring the fact that Samsung added a Quick Insert key to launch the feature of the same name, all other Chromebook Plus systems can do everything this Samsung model can. So it really comes down to spending $700 on a beautiful, impossibly thin and light machine with an OLED display or spending a similar amount of money on something that’s thicker and heavier but more utilitarian. Plus, while artists might prefer the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 because of its stylus support, and gamers might like something more in line with the Acer Chromebook 516 GE ($649.99 at Acer) because of its RGB keyboard lights and 120Hz display refresh rate.

90% Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus review: Setting a new standard
Source: Android Central English
It's been two years since Samsung's last Chromebook was released, and three years since its last premium offering. The Galaxy Chromebook Plus looks to offer an excellent experience for $700 and manages to do so with ease. It's thinner and lighter than some tablets but doesn't make many sacrifices in order to achieve its goals. There's a lot to like about the Galaxy Chromebook Plus, but there are a few irritations and frustrations to be found. These include things like the lack of a fingerprint scanner, the display isn't a touchscreen, and a few others. Nevertheless, Samsung managed to check a lot of the boxes that we look for in premium Chromebooks, and the Galaxy Chromebook Plus is a strong contender for the best Chromebook.

Intel UHD Graphics 64EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Alder Lake SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture (Xe) with 64 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Core 3 100U: High-end mobile processor based on the Alder Lake architecture. Offers 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores and can process 8 threads simultaneously. The maximum turbo clock of the P cores is 4.5 GHz.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

15.60":

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

Samsung manufactures a wide range of electronic products, including smartphones, televisions, home appliances and semiconductors. The company's Galaxy line of smartphones is one of the most popular in the world. Samsung is also a major player in the semiconductor industry, making memory chips and processors for many other electronics manufacturers.
