The new Galaxy A smartphones are here, including the Galaxy A26 5G as the most affordable model in 2025. Compared to its predecessor, it has a better processor, a waterproof case, AI functions and now 6 years of updates. Its price is $300, with a strong downward trend.

Galaxy A26 lands with a bigger AMOLED display and the confidence of IP67 water-resistance, while the A25 keeps things lighter on the wallet with the same reliable camera setup—so which feels like the smarter everyday pick?

The Galaxy A26 brings solid basics at a wallet-friendly price, but the A36 steps things up with a smoother display, a sleeker design, and a faster processor. Are those upgrades worth the extra cash? Check out this HEAD-TO-HEAD for the COMPLETE BREAKDOWN of how these two phones compare in terms of screen quality, battery life and charging speed, chipset performance, and camera image quality, all based on our extensive reviews.

The Galaxy A26 is cheap, but its performance and display feel stuck in the past. While it gets the job done for basic users, better alternatives exist in the same price range.

The Samsung Galaxy A26's standout features are currently limited to its software commitment and IP67-rated design. Everything else falls short or is a step behind competing smartphones at this price point. And so, it's really hard to recommend unless all you want from a smartphone is AI features and great software support. There's also a sea of competing smartphones to choose from. Nothing's Phone 3a is a capable and snazzy smartphone for those looking for something different or special at this price point. Those looking for better raw performance can look at the Poco F6 and the recently launched iQOO Neo 10R, which are priced below and above the Galaxy A26. If you want mega battery life, then the Vivo T4 with its massive 7,300mAh battery is an ideal choice. And if you are thinking of spending upwards of Rs. 26,000, then OnePlus' Nord 4 is a solid all-rounder.

The other alternatives are a little more complicated. The excellent Google Pixel 8a ($499 at Amazon) has been replaced by the Pixel 9a, but if you’re lucky you might a Pixel 8a discounted now it’s reached the end of its lifespan. The wildcard is the superb CMF Phone 2 Pro ($279 at Amazon), which is a fantastic device for $20 less than the Galaxy A26 5G, but there’s a catch — it’s only available in the US via a developer program and carrier band support is hit-and-miss at best. Overall, there’s a long list of things I wish Samsung had done better on the Galaxy A26 5G. But Samsung knows exactly what it can get away with, given the current competition, and it still manages to offer a compelling package at this price. The Galaxy A26 5G keeps things simple, plays it safe, and still walks away with a win.

The Galaxy A26 brings a few upgrades to last year's model - you get a larger display, IP67 ingress protection, Gorilla Glass Victus+ glass on the back, and a more powerful chipset. But is that enough for it to stand out? Check out our video review to learn ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW about the phone's top features, build, and screen quality, battery life, performance, and camera image quality.

At Rs 24,999, the Galaxy A26 5G offers a few positives like decent looks, a good display, and solid software backed by a strong update policy. But beyond that, there’s not much that stands out. For the same price, the Nothing Phone (3a) or Motorola Edge 60 Fusion would be smarter choices—they outperform the A26 5G in most key areas where it falls short.

The Galaxy A26 is priced at Rs 24,999 for the 8 GB + 128 GB variant and takes on the POCO X7 (review) and Motorola Edge 60 Fusion (review) in this segment. The POCO X7 offers a better multimedia experience, more battery life, and a sturdier design, while the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion delivers better camera performance, faster charging, more battery life, and added AI features. These make the competition a little tough for the Galaxy A26. That said, the Galaxy A26 still holds up well with its vibrant Super AMOLED display and clean software backed by long-term support. The lack of a charger, the missing headphone jack, and modest camera performance are worth keeping in mind, but it’s still a dependable option for those who value display quality and reliable software. More importantly, if you’re upgrading from an older Samsung phone, the Galaxy A26 will definitely feel more updated and refined.

The Samsung online Store offers the Galaxy A26 smartphone in a single version, in black, and 128 GB of storage space. MSRP for the phone is $ 299.99. There are also trade-in deals, store credits, and discounts when buying an accessory like earbuds, fitness trackers, or a Galaxy Watch. Outside the US, the Galaxy A26 5G is available in four color options (black, white, green, and pink), with 4, 6, or 8 GB of storage, and 128 or 256 GB of storage. For Latin America, the phone is even equipped with a slower processor, so be aware if buying from marketplace sellers.

The Galaxy A26 brings a few upgrades to the last year's model - you get a 6.7-inch display (up from 6.5"), some proper IP67 ingress protection, Gorilla Glass Victus+ glass on the front and back, and last but not least, the more powerful chipset from last year's Galaxy A35. You also get to keep the microSD slot too, while it got axed in the new A36 and A56. However, the list of updates is not enough to make the Galaxy A26 very competitive as it doesn't seem to stand out with anything in particular, except its nice selfies and long software support.

The Galaxy A26 is a great budget offering. For just $299 you're getting a big 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate (we're looking at you, Apple!), a solid 5,000 mAh battery, one decent main camera, and access to Samsung's core AI suite called Awesome Intelligence. The design of the Galaxy A26 is also quite pleasing, and there's Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front AND back, plus IP67 ingress protection. You can get a smooth day-to-day performance out of the Exynos 1380, and thanks to the microSD slot, storage won't be an issue. Last but not least, the Galaxy A26 comes with six years of major OS updates, which makes it the only phone in the sub-$300 range to offer such long software support.

The Samsung Galaxy A26 smartphone brings the focus back to the budget mid-range market, which didn’t see any competition for a long time. Most smartphones launched in the budget market tend to have budget specs and features that don’t appeal to modern users. They have displays that are not color-accurate and are quite dimmer outdoors. Their performance is also way off the mark and their cameras lack quality. Many smartphones in this price range still don’t have 5G connectivity, which is unacceptable in 2024. The Samsung Galaxy A26 excels in design, display, gaming, camera, and even battery. The main camera is simply outstanding for this price tag as it punches way above its class and certainly surprised us. It also comes with the latest Android out of the box and a commitment to six years of software updates.
