Samsung Galaxy 26 Ultra: Faster charging, thinner and lighter than iPhone 17 Pro Max, but measly camera upgrade

We are still not entirely convinced that this leak will come true. Even though Ice Universe enjoys a good reputation among leakers, he is not perfect either. According to his latest post on Weibo (see screenshot embedded below), Samsung will finally upgrade the fast charging capabilities of the successor to the Galaxy S25 Ultra (from $1,099 on Amazon). On the other hand, a larger battery is not planned for 2026, as the Galaxy S26 Ultra will keep the usual 5,000mAh, but at least the charging speed is scheduled to increase. It’s unclear by how much, but we would expect around 65 watts.
In terms of cameras, Samsung has purportedly opted for a rather minuscule upgrade. The main camera should still be based on a 200MP sensor, which is accompanied by a 5x telephoto camera with a 50MP sensor and a 3x telephoto camera. The latter might be upgraded from 10 megapixels to at least 12 megapixels. This information is supposedly 90% verified, whatever that means. Recently, another less prominent leaker emphasized that the 3x telephoto upgrade has not yet been finalized.
Thinner and lighter than Apple's iPhone 17 Pro Max
An X post from the same leaker provides more specific details on the thickness of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s chassis and compares it to the upcoming Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apparently, Samsung's future flagship design will differ from Apple, especially in terms of thickness and weight. While the iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumored to be 0.345 inches thick, Samsung might be aiming for a thickness under 0.315 inches. The weight of the phone is also expected to decrease significantly. All these details, including those from other leakers, should certainly be treated with caution, as the Galaxy S26 Ultra's specifications are unlikely to be set in stone at this time. More reliable leaks could emerge later this year.
