Thinkpad for Everyone. Lenovo intends to attract attention of the very big number of potential customers in the low price category by the launch of the Thinkpad SL series. Thereby, the SL models should offer the successful Thinkpad qualities at an attractive entry level price, which makes it affordable for everyone. Overall, the SL series approaches the consumer sector.

Top Gaming Category. A short time ago nVIDIA launched two new graphics cards for high-end gaming. Beside the Geforce 9800M GT, which can be used in compact 15 inch models, it also offers the Geforce 9800M GTX. Based on the G92 architecture the 9800M GTX is also produced in 65 nanometre technology, but the number of its shaders is clearly higher than of the former top model by nVIDIA, the Geforce 8800M GTX.

A New Old Acquaintance Barely any other barebone is offered under so many different predicates as the M570 from Clevo. It's not very surprising, as it is a chic 17 - inch notebook always on the newest stand of technique and therefore especially of interest for performance - enthusiasts. Schenker brings the M570TU as mySN SMG7 gaming notebook out, equipped with Intel Core 2 Extreme X9100 CPU and a brand new 9800M GTX graphics card.

Pure performance. Until now the Thinkpad T-Model from Lenovo, which was enhanced after the short ending -p, set the standard for professional users with high performance demands. After a complete overhaul of the Lenovo product lineup, coincident with the launch of the Intel Centrino 2, Lenovo is now starting a few new notebook series. Among them are the new mobile workstations with the labels W500 and W700, which are meant to replace the Thinkpad Txxp models.

Compact Power Package. Clevo already presented a new 15 inch barebone which can also be equipped with very powerful graphics cards at the CeBit in Hannover this year. In the meanwhile not only the barebone Devil 9000 DTX is available, but also the new high-performance graphics cards by nVIDIA. This review covers how this 15 inch notebook model equipped with Geforce 9800M GT graphics card rates in our comprehensive test.

Mobile All - Rounder> The new Samsung R560 - Aura P8400 Madril is an absolute all - rounder. It doesn't matter if it's only "simple" office work at the desk or intensive performance in multimedia applications up to gaming - with this notebook you set your possibilities very high. At the moment there are two versions of the R560 - series on the market. That is on the one hand the R560 - Aura P7350 Maloz and on the other the already mentioned Samsung R560 - Aura P8400 Madril.

Part 1: Good and reasonable? The first part of our big headset review covers budget headsets, which cost below 40.-€. We scrutinised a total of seven headsets with different qualities. The following comparison test covers whether there are in terms of sound quality and wearing comfort, good budget headsets available.

Beam me up, Scotty. While the european supporters of Alienware have had to wait a long while for its release, the extra-terrestrial m17x and its 17 inch screen has been available in the US for some time. However, the wait is over and the Intel CPU and Geforce 8800M GTX SLI equipped gaming machine is now available here. These compnents mean these laptops are one of the strongest competitors in its class.

A new addition to the family. Until now, Dell has offered two notebook series for private customers. On one hand were the Inspiron laptops, primarily designed for the price conscious newcomer, and on the other the XPS series, renowned for its performance and slick design. The new Studio line closes the gap between the existing models, orienting itself towards the design conscious multimedia user.

And the story continues… Hardly half a year after the Penryn update of notebook processors, Intel launched a number of new CPUs at the same time than its new platform, the Centrino 2 platform, code-named Montevina. So, now there are further powerful Intel processors for notebook available, whereas the clock rates of these new processors range from 2.26 to 2.8 GHz. Furthermore, there is also an Extreme edition with 3.06 GHz available. We checked the price-performance ratio of these new processors.

Reinforcements Arrived. We got hold of a Clevo M860TU barebone in the form of the Deviltech 9000 DTX gaming notebook, one of the first notebooks, which is equipped with a brand-new GeForce 9800 GT graphics card. The most interesting aspect was thereby the performance of the new 9800 graphics card in current games. Large Business Notebook. After we had the Dell Vostro 1310 under review, which achieved with 86% a very good rating, it's now time to look at its big brother, a 17 inch notebook of the Vostro family. If you are interested in a solid 17 inch notebook with good workmanship and many hardware and service options, the Vostro 1710 would well meet these demands.

Noble Mini. Weighing 1.3 kg, the Asus U2E is a very light noble subnotebook. This exclusive nobel mini notebook has a case of extremely high-quality made of glossy precious metal combined with extravagant black leather. The inside also includes exquisite components: An Intel Core 2 Duo Ultra Low Voltage U7500 processor, a DVD drive and a bright 11" LED LCD.

Studio Line. For the present the new Studio series by Dell is available in two sizes. On the one hand there is the Studio 15, which has a compact 15.4 inch wide screen format. On the other hand there is also the 17 inch model called Dell Studio 17, which was especially designed for all those who appreciate a big display with much overview. But, the Studio 17 does not only take advantage of a bigger size, but also of more powerful hardware components, i.e, an Intel processors and ATI graphics card, and bigger reserve capacity.

Centrino 2 Kino. The Sony Vario FW11M is one of the currently low priced models and offers therefore only a blu ray ROM drive (reader, no writer) and decreased hardware devices. Also, one must do without the well known Sony Dual Lamp Technology. In the following short review you will find out if they saved at the right corners.

Big Brother. The Pavilion dv7-1050eg and the dv7-1045eg by HP are equipped with a big 17" wide screen, a Blu-Ray ROM drive, a playable middle-class graphics card, and of course it has the new liquid metallic design. This article covers whether this notebook is a good bundle.

Reasonable General-Purpose Computer. The HP Pavilion dv5-1032eg manages to combine low price and good equipment. An nVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT combined with a Core 2 Duo processor by Intel, even promises playable performance. New in Business. Right on time for the launch of the new Intel Montevina Platform, Lenovo uncovers its brand new product range. While the T, R and X series are full of familiar faces, the SL models reveal an entirely new product, that should strengthen Lenovo's position in the entry level business sector. Equipped with many of the tried and true Thinkpad features, these new noteboks will probably appeal most to price conscious business and private customers.

Overtime. The Dell M6300 already had the chance to demonstrate its capabilities. Now, it got the chance again. Except of a powerful T9500 CPU with 2.6 GHz by Intel, a Quadro FX 3600M graphics adapter by nVidia ensures a lot of power inside this 17 inch workstation, which was especially designed for CAD professionals.

Urban-Lifestyle. Since the beginning the CR series is designed for style and it is possible to choose your personal design. The Vaio VGN-CR31S/W is so do. Weighing only 2.5 kg and having an elegant case, it wants to raise special expectations on lifestyle and mobility. Fast core components and the 14.1 inch X-black LCD allow enjoying multimedia even on the move.

Multimedia all-rounder. After the Asus M70S and the M51SN, it is now time for the M50S to be tested. The M50S, like the other notebooks made by Asus, belong to the segment of high performance multimedia notebooks. The hardware equipment and design of our 15" M50S test sample are very similar or even identical with the bigger M70S. This includes a HDMI interface and a Blu-Ray drive.

Compaq(t). Having a handy 14.1 inch format and weighing 2.3 kg, the HP Compaq 6910p is a mobile office expert made by the American notebook producer Hewlett-Packard. Aspects especially important for sales agents are many provided communication modules, e.g., Bluetooth, WLAN standard n, Gigabit Ethernet, and built-in UMTS.

Entertainment Notebook with blu ray drive Sony's Vaio VGN-FZ31Z is equipped with a built-in blu ray drive, an HDMI port, and a very bright 15.4 inch X-black display. It is designed as entertainment centre and supports watching HD videos from its Blu-ray drive. The T8300, an Intel Core2 Duo CPU, the fast GeForce T8300M GS graphics card, and 4 GB RAM ensure high performance. These powerful components are inside a stylish high-quality case which is made of magnesium parts.

HP goes mini. HPs answer to the EEE PC by Asus is equipped with a VIA processor, and attracts attention by an elegant look and a complete equipment. The following short review covers how this small 8.9 inch notebook rates. We had the chance to test the UK version of this notebook during hardly a day.

Thinkpad Air. As slimmest and lightest ever model in the Thinkpad series, Lenovo shows off its most recent creation. The initial hype surrounding the compact notebook was only further heightened by the near simultaneous introduction of the MacBook Air. In complete contrast to the slick but air-headed Apple, Lenovo stayed down to earth with the business competence provided by the Thinkpad X300, particularly in terms of its extensive communicative capacity.

Innovation. In many aspects the Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Si3655 is an innovative notebook.This compact 13 inch subnotebook comes in a brand new Amilo design and is equipped with the latest development by Intel: the Centrino 2. In detail it is equipped with a Core 2 Duo T9400 CPU with 2.53 GHz combined with the new GM45 chip-set, and an integrated Intel GMA X4500HD video chip. Typical Desktop Replacement. Samsung's R700 Aura T9300 Dillen, a 17 inch notebook, offers a lot of performance at a moderate price. This thin 17 inch multimedia notebook comes with powerful and modern components and weighs just 3.1 kg. Due to an overall high performance, the R700 is also fit for demanding applications and computer games.

The Eee is growing up. Bigger display, more disk space and a full-featured OS sum up to clearly bring the Eee 900 ahead of its predecessor, the Eee 4G. Even so, the Eee 900 retains a compact and robust chassis with high mobility factor. In the following review you will see how the Asus Eee PC is growing ever closer to becoming a truly classic subnotebook machine.

Big display at a great price. The price of a notebook is the most important aspect for most customers. Nearly all manufacturers are responsive to this trend and also offer a number of low price models. Toshiba has already offered its Satellite L-series, which consists of very reasonable beginner's office notebooks, for a long time. The Satellite L350, which is equipped with a big 17 inch display and Intel's Dual-Core technology, is available at a great price.

Lightweight Design The noble SZ series by Sony was again redesigned. Today these notebooks are equipped with most up-to-date processors. The Vaio VGN-SZ71WN/C is an ultra portable notebook with fast Penryn T9300 processor, a 2.5“-HDD with 200 GB capacity, a very bright 13.3" display with LED backlight and fast HSDPA Internet access.

Gaming performance with compromises. The MSI Megabook GX 600 is nearly completely black. It does not look that pretentious and fancy than the previously reviewed Magabook GX 700 with Extreme Gaming design. Despite the somewhat more decent look, the target group is apparent. Strikingly red W/A/S/D buttons and a big turbo button at the right side above the keyboard, support gamers.

Multimedia vs. Gaming. Apart from the Asus G70, a notebook specifically designed for gaming, Asus also offers the M70S in its new 17” series of notebooks, which is targeted at users with less gaming ambitions. With its powerful T9300 processor, ATI Radeon HD3650 graphics, and Blu-Ray drive, the Asus M70S appeals mainly to multimedia users with a desire for a large FullHD display.

TV-Total. The Pavilion HDX enters the competition of XL notebooks about the biggest display. Although there are not many competitors in this category, this 20 inch notebook still tries to attract attention by an innovative opening mechanism. And obviously this is successful. Today, the shortcut 'HDX' is already known to hint on innovative design. Regarding equipment, this notebook scores points by coming with a Geforce 8800M GTS video card.

Mobile living room. We reviewed the bigger 18” 16:9 notebook after the Aspire 6920G, which is Acer's new compact multimedia class. The 8920G looks similar to the 6920G, but there are differences in their equipment. For example: the 8920G offers GeForce 9650M graphics and this graphic card is the successor of the GeForce 8700M GT chip.

South wind. Although Zepto's Notus A12 is not light enough to fly, it is certainly lighter than many other notebooks, with only 1.37 kilogram. It is also well equipped, with Bluetooth 2.0, Draft-N-WLAN up to 300MBit/s, 6.5 millimeter thin 12.1" display with LED back light, TPM module for encryption, flat magnesium case and a battery that keeps it running for quite a while.

Danish Express. These days Zepto entices customers by a big price reduction for its Znote 3415W 'Power'. Besides a Penryn-CPU T9500 and a huge RAM capacity of 4GB also the mass storage capacity is big. The 200 GB hard disk runs at a revolution speed of 7,200 rpm, and a GeForce 8600M GT ensures high performance graphics. All aboard!

Mobile Business. Dell's Vostro series offers robust business qualities for a fair price and thus becomes interesting for customers who value a stable and durable product. The Dell Vostro 1310 impresses mainly with it's good mobility, which it achieves with a compact case, long battery life, and an outdoor capable display.

14 inch Notebook More compact and lighter than a 15.4 inch notebook, this 14.1 inch notebook by the Danish manufacturer Zepto has not only a handy in-between size but is also potent multimedia computer. We reviewed this handy notebook with Core 2 Duo T7250, Geforce 8400M GS, and 250 GB hard disk. This review covers how it rates.

Beginner. The Lenovo 3000 N200 should be a 15.4 inch notebook with good workmanship, belonging to the beginner category, which especially attracts price-conscious customers. It raises the level of the office category, by being equipped with a dual core processor, 160 GB hard disk, Bluetooth, fingerprint reader, and web cam and by being offered at a great price of below 600 Euro.

Low cost worker. The HP Compaq 6720s offers a good base for daily work at the office or at home for little money. Due to modern dual-core technology made by Intel it is also able to complete extensive tasks quickly.

Professional Traveler. They are in fashion although they have almost nothing to do with the currently highly favored Netbooks – the ultra mobile office laptops. These laptops offer a combination of light weight, compact dimensions, a good battery life and extensive communication features. Models of Dell, in this league, include for example the Latitude E4300 with a display of 13.3 inches and a total weight of 1850 grams.

After the introduction of the new Penryn processors, also Apple updates its MacBook and MacBook Pro series with these new 45nm Core 2 Duo processors. This article covers how the new top MacBook Pro notebook with 2.5 GHz processors differs from its predecessor.

Hand luggage. The 12.1" small and 2 kilogram light Acer Aspire 2920 is an attractive choice for home users, who are looking for a subnotebook with fully-fledged equipment and performance. Additionally, the 2920 offers plenty of space to store data and an excellent WXGA display.

Fully Loaded. The TravelMate 6592 is designed for businessmen who look for a powerful notebook equipped with many accessories and features. Besides brand new Intel Centrino PRO Mobile technology, the TravelMate 6592G also offers safety features, like fingerprint reader, TPM, a lot of interfaces, and a long battery life.

The empire strikes back. Alienware announced a compact high performance notebook a long time ago. But although it was already available in the USA for quite a while, it is just now finally coming to Europe. The Area-51 m15x notebook makes Alienware the first producer that offers a 15" gaming notebook with a 8800 GTX graphics card and Intel Core 2 extreme processor. This is also the current maximum of what's possible in the compact multimedia class.

Object of desire... Advertising the Asus U6S one word dominates – luxury. The piano finish as well as the great equipment including LED display, Penryn CPU, and GeForce 9300M, emphasize luxury. Even at the first glance the 12 inch Asus U6F looks luxurious. The same is true for the price of this 12 inch notebook, which is at least 1.799,- Euro.

G2 gaming update. Since the launch of the Asus G2 after the Cebit 2007 it has been offered in various configurations to keep it competitive. The current version of the gaming notebook in 17" format, called G2SG, comes with a new Penryn processor and a Geforce 8700M GT graphics card made by nVIDIA with 512MB GDDR3 video memory.

The New Middle-Class. Nearly all details were changed with the introduction of the new compact multimedia notebooks by Acer. Packed in a new distinctive Gemstone Blue design, equipped with a 16 inch 16:9 aspect ratio display, and up-to-date hardware, it should, according to Acer, stand as a reference for 'ultimate entertainment'. Therefore, it is furthermore equipped with a Blu-Ray drive and a Dolby certified sound system.

Straight Business. The HP Compaq 6715s appears to be a reasonable office notebook without ornaments designed for daily office work. Despite its low price, this 15.4 inch notebook with AMD technology convinces by good workmanship, ergonomics, and quality of the input devices. But, the interfaces equipment covers only the minimum requirements.

High-Fi Anlage zum Mitnehmen Multimedia all-rounder The HP Pavilion HDX 9130 EG is very attractive in several aspects. It's glossy case in dragon-design hints for a lot more features to come. Equipped with an Intel core 2 Duo processor and an ATI HD2600XT graphics card, it is a high performance multimedia all-rounder, ready to do a variety of tasks. We think this is a great thing, if only it wasn't so heavy.

(Office Power)². The HP Compaq 8710 series is especially designed for graphics and CAD professionals. Being equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo T9500 CPU with 2.6 GHz and a nVIDIA Quadro FX 1600M graphics card, the 8710w notebook is thereby today's most powerful notebook of this series. Furthermore, the 17 inch WUXGA display ensures due to a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels maximum clarity.

Multimedia all-rounder. A lot has changed on the notebook market since the appearance of the new graphics card series by nVIDIA. Various producers already started to sell models with the new Penryn processors and the new graphics chips. One of these notebooks is the Asus M51SN with Core 2 Duo T8300 processor and a Geforce 9500M GS graphics card.

Upside Down. Although convertible notebooks like the Dell Latitude XT, which support being operated either as tablet PC or as standard notebook are still rare, they gain more and more market share, because of new technologies and increasing possible field of application. The Dell Latitude XT demonstrates how a good convertible PC should be.

Nice looking single core notebook The Acer Extensa 5220 (-100508) is an appealing office notebook equipped with a single core processor, which is available at a small price. It is suited to those who wish to have a reasonable second notebook or a cheap desktop replacement for browsing the Internet and all office work. Equipment, display, and workmanship or top, if you consider the price category.

14.1 inch - High Mobility The Esprimo Mobile M9400 tries to attract businessmen by a 14.1 inch display, integrated UMTS modem, and a weight of about 2.2 kg. This review uncovers whether this office notebook is able to hold a candle to the professional Lifebooks by Fujitsu Siemens.

Multimedia Notebook with powerful Penryn-CPU The Znote 6625WD launched by the Danish computer company Zepto, is a powerful general-purpose multimedia notebook, which belongs to the category of 15.4 inch multimedia notebooks fit for computer games. The advantages of this Scandinavian are, besides a powerful Penryn-CPU T9500, a fast Geforce 8600M GT notebook video card, and the brilliant WSXGA+ display.

Mobile Gaming Notebook. The Asus F8SN is a powerful 14" notebook with GeForce 9500M GS video card and Core 2 Duo T9300 "Penryn" processor. This review uncovers among others the disadvantages of this powerful equipment inside a small case.

DTR Entry-level solution. The Acer Aspire 7720 series's case has a gemstone design, which is already well-known. It is equipped with a 17 inch WXGA+ display which provides a good desktop size for multimedia applications. The G in the name hints on a dedicated video card, whereas the reviewed notebook was equipped with a Geforce 8400M GS by nVIDIA. Combined with a Dual Core CPU the Aspire 7720, which belongs to the 17 inch notebook category, is a bundle especially interesting for starter.

Double Core. The XPS M1730 is now also available with two GeForce 8800M GTX SLI video cards for a surcharge of 490,- respectively 780,- Euro. Hence, Dell upgrades its signature gaming notebook with the newest and at the time of writing fastest video technology. This review uncovers, how these new video cards impact on performance and emissions and whether they are worth the surcharge.

More than just Office. The Dell Insprion 1525 scores not only points in typical aspects important for office notebooks, but also regarding a number of multimedia features. Besides a good workmanship, an user-friendly keyboard and a clear design, it also offers, e.g., an up-to-date HMDI port. Inside a Dual Core processor by Intel and two GB RAM ensure sufficient performance.

First Class Travelling. The Portégé R500 can be called a prototype of Toshiba's product range. Not only the very interesting equipment - Core 2 Duo U7700 CPU, transreflective LED display, 64 Gigabyte solid state disk, and 3G/UMTS module - hints on this. Furthermore, it is only 810g (!!) light and costs as much as 2,500.- Euro.

Heavy Worker. The Precision series by Dell was especially designed for professionals working with CAD applications and visualizations and demanding high video performance, reliability, and good support. The M6300 is a robust desktop replacement computer in 17 inch format. Various configuration options make it possible to turn it into a high-performance workstation.

Business dwarf with endurance. Optical drives and proper energy supply are usually the victims in the battle for the smallest subnotebook. Fujitsu-Siemens tackles exactly this problem, and offers with the Lifebook P7230 an ultra mobile 10.6 inch subnotebook with extensive communication-features and a DVD burner that can be replaced with an optional additional battery.

Want to possess it? Today's thinnest notebook is small enough to fit into an envelope and pleases by its decent design and the high-quality materials used. This review describes, whether this bundle is able to convince despite its minimum interface equipment.

Compact Gaming by Zepto. Some manufactures consider a Geforce 8600M GT video card only for notebooks which are at least 17 inch big. Zepto is completely different. Inside the 14 inch 6324W notebook there is a powerful 8600M GT video card by nVIDIA and also a brand new 2.5 GHz Penryn CPU by Intel.

Road Warrior. The Dell Latitude D430 proves to be an exemplary companion in our review. The up to now smallest notebook of the Latitude series is quiet, compact, light, and its workmanship is good. The runtime of the small 42 Wh battery is due to special energy-saving components up to 6 hours. Despite being equipped with low-energy components, the frugal Core 2 Duo processor with 1.2 GHz clock rate combined with very fast SSD hard disk is sufficiently powerful for daily business.

Family PC According to Asus this small and reasonable notebook is a notebook for the whole family. Here you can read how it performed in our technical tests and whether it is able to actually replace the classical PC.

Small, undemanding, but, powerful. This would be a suitable short description of the new mobile Penryn CPU by Intel. The main advantages of the new processor besides switching to 45nm production, which allowed a dramatically higher number of transistors, are a larger L2-cache and improved energy saving functions.

Quiet office notebook.The Samsung R60-Aura T2330 Deesan is a reasonable and quiet office notebook for starters without unnecessary details. The price performance ratio is alright. The R60-Aura is a robust notebook with bright display, low noise, and normal temperature increase. Furthermore, overall the performance of the R60-Aura is easily sufficient for office work.

Red-hot. The MSI Megabook GX700 Extreme is a serious competitor of every modding PC. A big logo on its lid, bright-red flames everywhere you look, and a deep black case are the trademarks of the Extreme model we reviewed. So, you'll surely recognize it even from a distance. Inside the 17-inch notebook there are a Core 2 Duo processor, a nVIDIA Geforce 8600M GT, two Gigabyte RAM, a HD-DVD drive, and a matte WUXGA-display. If you prefer a more decent design, the MSI GX700 provides you with nearly the same performance, but, has a more decent case.

Light noble subnotebook with two graphic adapters Others will definitely begrudge you the Sony Vaio VGN-SZ61WN/C, one of those light, compact, and fast subnotebooks. Designed in a preciously way, it combines performance and mobility in a new way. Furthermore, the VGN-SZ61WN/C attracts attention by modern and precious composite materials, additional security features, a switchable hybrid video solution, and a very bright 13.3 inch X-Black display.

It's a hunk. The Toshiba Tecra M9 is a business notebook, which is made for mobile business work. Anyhow, it is a heavyset 14.1” notebook, which has an overall weight of 2.3 kg. That is very much compared to other notebooks of that type. However, its display is not reflecting, it offers many security features, and the keyboard is acceptable to use. Therefore, the Tecra M9 is a classical office notebook.

Unspectacular appearance The new Amilo PI 2515, made by the German/Japanese producer Fujitsu Siemens computers (FSC), doesen't take any risks regarding appearance. The plain but not ugly notebook Amilo Pi 2515 isn't an exception. Only the small Centrino Duo- and Vista-stickers indicate the modern technology inside this 15.4 inch notebook.

Consumer Market Notebook. The Toshiba Satellite A200 is one of the reasonable consumer notebooks. Equipped with moderate hardware, these focus on price-conscious customers. This notebook is optimized for typical office and Internet applications. Nonetheless, it has a appealing case, which looks good on every desk. Because it is equipped with an ATI Radeon HD 2400 video card you can also run non-demanding multimedia applications.

Attractive Multimedia Notebook with enormous Storage Capacity. In this review the Acer Aspire 7520G, a 17 inch notebook with modern look, proves a good performance. The workmanship of this wide-screen notebook's case is good. Input devices and operational ease of the 7520G leave all in all an entirely positive impression. Gigantic: with a hard-disk capacity of about 400 GByte the Aspire 7520G offers more than enough space for the private video collection.

Already some time ago Dell introduced two series of entry-level notebooks intended for the emerging markets. Initially, we thought that the Vostro A860 won’t be available in developed countries, but the Texas-based vendor surprised us. We were promised a test sample just after it had been announced, but there was an unexpected delay. Finally we got hold of a test sample, which we'll describe in detail this test report.

Bread and Games... This article describes another notebook of the Asus V series, a 15.4 inch business notebook which is also fit for multimedia applications. Whilst a non-glare display with high-resolution indicates that business is its intended field of operation, the built-in Geforce 8600M GT video card with 512MB reminds rather on a gaming notebook. Following review describes how this interesting bundle scores.

The Dell XPS M1730 got this high score not only because of the impressive LED illumination, but also the other aspects of this gaming laptop were convincing. For example, the WUXGA display, the superb performance (8700M GT SLI graphic cards), and suprisingly also the low operating noise played an important role.

Compact Gaming by Dell. Dell's XPS logo indicates highest performance and first-class design by Dell. Regardless, whether you look at 17 inch DTR gaming notebooks or at the compact Dell XPS M1530, you can be sure that XPS notebooks by Dell are always equipped with up-to-date hardware and, so, provide first-class performance. So, it's not surprising that the Dell XPS M1530 is also a very powerful multimedia notebook, which sets a high standard for competitors. Core 2 duo CPU and Geforce 8600M GT with GDDR3 memory in a high-quality and compact 2.6 kg aluminum case: Is there anything left to be desired?

Back to the Roots. At the moment the Toshiba Satellite L40-14N is among others top in competition about the most reasonable available notebook. It tries to especially score points by a price of clearly below 1000.- Euro and should, thereby, attract possible customers who just demand basics. Light office applications, wireless Internet access, DVD and music playback are no problem for the Satellite L40-14N.

Powerful mobile workstation. The HP Compaq 8510W is a solid and strong mobile workstation, built for professional users who work with visualisation and graphic applications. Beside its high overall performance the 8510W is built solid and offers meaningful operating and security solutions.

Satego copy. Beside the Satego X200 gaming series, Toshiba also offers the Satellite X200 series, which does not differ to much from the former at the first glance. There is first-class hardware in a striking case, so, also the Satellite X200 is indeed a gaming notebook. Powerful Intel Core 2 Duo processors and a powerful video cards, like Geforce 8700m GT or 8600m GT SLI, which the reviewed notebook came with, grant excellent gaming performance.

Solid Office Notebook. The ThinkPad T61 is a notebook which should especially attract business customers. Lenovo products are top regarding user-friendliness and data security. Here the Lenovo ThinkPad T61 scores points by many reasonable details. Furthermore Lenovo's customer support is excellent. Knowing the part number, it's pretty easy to quickly order most parts.

The next (last?) samurai. The currrent gaming-series by Toshiba is available in a number of different configurations. The 21D comes, e.g., with a more powerful CPU and a WSXGA display with a resolution of 1680x1050 pixel. Of course, these features raise the price, but, some potential buyers might still especially be attracted by the high-resolution display.

Some like it big. That`s it, for with the D901C wimps are at the wrong place. Big and heavy, but for a notebook a virtually incredible performance. That performance is provided by a Core 2 Extreme Quad QX6850 CPU with 3.0GHz together with two NVIDIA Geforce 8700M GT graphic cards with 512MB GDDR3 video memory each. O, yes, three hard disks with 250GB capacity each are also to be found in the casing. With this equipment the mySN D901C (Clevo D901C) represents the zenith of notebook technology at present.

Indigo Blue - This is the name of the reviewed Sony notebook. This office notebook with interesting price-performance ratio is, furthermore, also available in designs called 'Luxury Pink' and 'Pure White' and should, so, attract attention to a broad group of potential buyers sensible to design. Old Friend. At a closer look the Asus Pro31S, offered by MediaMarkt, turned actually out to be a F3SC, a well sold model of the well-known Asus F3 series. Obviously, the equipment was hardly changed: Core 2 Duo CPU, nVIDIA Geforce 8400M G, 2 GB main memory, and 160 GB harddisk capacity. However, the price has changed in the meanwhile - it was reduced.

The details of the Zepto Znote 6224W look like a wish-list of many notebook buyers: this black laptop from Denmark is supposed to be small, high-performance and at the same time very reasonably priced. But can this 14-inch laptop, which is based on the Intel Centrino generation and the potent Geforce 8600 M GT graphic of nVIDIA, indeed keep this promise? We made the test.

Office bargain. Notebooks from Sony do not always have to cost a lot of money: this proves the new Sony Vaio NR11S. Specifically developed for the “light user” with low hardware demands. This laptop offers no more one needs as basic equipment, but in good quality. “Simple, sporty and clever” – Rarely an advertising slogan fits a notebook so well as it fits the Vaio NR11S/S.

Compact Business by Asus. The Asus V2S tries to score points by mobility with a 14 inch format, and at the same time by an adequately big display and good equipment. The basic data of this notebook sound interesting: Compact 2.5kg case, 14" WXGA+ display with non-reflecting surface, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU with 2.0 GHz and nVIDIA Geforce 8600M GS video card. So, this laptop is even fit for multimedia and graphics.

Power-Sub. If Dell launches a subnotebook which belongs to the XPS series, you'll should already know what you can expect. Right, first-class performance. Although the aesthetically pleasing case is not spacious, Dell was able to put a powerful T7300 CPU and a Geforce 8400M GS video card in. Combined with a 13.3" LED display this notebook is attractive.

Low Price Vostro. Since last year Dell has equipped its notebooks with AMD processors. The Vostro 1000 belongs to the second generation of these laptops based on Intel's competitor platform, which should be cheaper as a rule. This series, which is also meant for small companies, differs from other representatives of this new range, because it doesn't have a modern case. Actually, it got the one, which was already used for its predecessor.
