Resident Evil Requiem is off to flying start on Steam and PlayStation as it becomes fastest-selling Resident Evil game ever

Capcom has hit it out of the park with Resident Evil Requiem. The game officially released to critical acclaim on February 27, and it is off to a great start. According to SteamDB, the game recorded an all-time peak of 344,214 concurrent players on Steam nine days ago. By contrast, Resident Evil Village only clocked in at a peak concurrent player count of 106,631 on Steam.
As such, Resident Evil Requiem seems to have sold quite well. Capcom announced on March 5 that it had shipped 5 million units of Resident Evil Requiem in just five days after the February 27 launch. In fact, Resident Evil Requiem is now the fastest-selling Resident Evil ever.
While Capcom didn't provide figures for each platform, Alinea Analytics has published its estimates of Resident Evil Requiem sales per platform. According to Alinea’s early estimates, Capcom sold:
- Around 2.3 million copies on Steam
- Around 1.6 million copies on PlayStation 5
- Around 300K copies on Xbox Series consoles
The analysis also reveals that the Nintendo Switch 2 and physical sales account for a combined 0.8-1 million copies. Alinea also reports that more than 2.2 million gamers play Resident Evil Requiem daily on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Steam.
Resident Evil Requiem system requirements
Resident Evil Requiem is a graphical showcase. It is one of the best-looking modern games according to Digital Foundry. Unsurprisingly, it is only available on the Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation 5/5 Pro, Nintendo Switch 2, and on Steam. The Xbox One, PS4, and the original Switch are out of luck.
If you are on a PC/gaming laptop, the recommended Resident Evil Requiem system requirements are:
- An Intel Core i7-8700 or Ryzen 5 5500
- 16 GB of RAM
- A GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6600 GPU
- SSD storage
These base requirements are for 1080p gameplay upscaled from 720p. If you want to run the game at 1440p or 4K, you’ll need much more powerful GPUs.
