Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G launches in a few days with 6,000 mAh battery, 120 Hz display and 6 years of updates

On a teaser website at Amazon India Samsung confirms that the Galaxy M17e 5G will be officially unveiled on Tuesday, March 17. While Samsung has not yet commented on the price or possible international availability, the smartphone is likely to be cheaper than the Galaxy A17 ($179 on Amazon), as the features are largely the same as those of the Samsung Galaxy A07 5G.
Samsung already promises a price of less than 15,000 INR (approx. $162) on the teaser website. The Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G is available in either Blitz Blue (turquoise) or Vibe Violet (purple). The 8.2 millimeter thick body is IP54-certified and therefore only protected against larger dust particles and water splashes, but not completely waterproof. The affordable mid-range smartphone will receive six major Android updates and six years of security patches.
Samsung advertises a display with a frame rate of 120 Hz, but this should only offer a resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels, similar to the Galaxy A07 5G. The 8 megapixel selfie camera sits in a somewhat old-fashioned notch, while the pill-shaped camera module on the back houses a 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP depth sensor.
Hidden inside the smartphone is a MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6 nm ARM chip from 2024, which has two ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor simplifies the secure unlocking of the smartphone. With a capacity of 6,000 mAh, the battery is even larger than the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
