PocketBook Q mini e-reader launches for $235
From the Xteink X4 Pro to the reMarkable Paper Pro Move ($469 on Amazon), the selection of compact, pocket-sized e-readers has grown steadily over the past few months. Now, Swiss e-reader specialist PocketBook is also introducing a particularly compact model.
The PocketBook Q measures just 15.4 × 7.6 centimeters and weighs 130 grams. Its compact dimensions are made possible primarily by the 5.84-inch touchscreen. It is based on an E Ink Carta 1300 panel capable of displaying 16 shades of gray, with a resolution of 1,576 × 788 pixels and a pixel density of 300 PPI. The display promises perfect readability in sunlight, while a SmartLight with adjustable brightness and color temperature is available for reading in low light.
The 1,550 mAh battery is designed to provide several weeks of battery life and is charged via USB-C. There is 32 GB of flash storage available for e-books and audiobooks, and headphones can be connected via Bluetooth or USB-C. The Linux-based operating system supports most common e-book formats and can also read e-books aloud upon request.
The PocketBook Q is IPX4-certified and therefore protected against rain. Buttons on the casing are designed to make turning pages more comfortable. A Rockchip RK3566 ARM chip, paired with 1 GB of RAM, provides the necessary performance.
Pricing and availability
The PocketBook Q e-reader is expected to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2026 with a suggested retail price of $235, €199 or £175. More details on the features can be found on the official product page.
