68-gram mini E-Reader: Xteink X4 Classic Launches for $79

Xteink unveiled the X4 Pro in July and discontinued sales of the older X4 shortly thereafter. Now, the more affordable model is being re-released as the Xteink X4 Classic. The device does receive a few upgrades, such as a larger 920 mAh battery. However, a touchscreen and display backlighting are still only available on the Pro model, which costs $20 more.
This makes the X4 Classic particularly well-suited for reading in bright daylight. To that end, the new model is especially compact – the e-reader is only 4.9 millimeters thick and weighs 68 grams. With dimensions of 11.4 x 6.9 centimeters, the device is smaller than many smartphones. Compared to the older X4, the X4 Classic is said to offer better performance and a higher-quality casing. The highlight remains the 4.3-inch E-Ink display, which, while only being able to display grayscale, is extremely energy-efficient and can be read even in direct sunlight.
To turn pages, the e-reader features not only buttons on both sides but also an accelerometer, allowing users to turn pages simply by flicking the device. The e-reader comes with a 16 GB microSD card, which can be replaced with a 256 GB memory card if needed. Xteink supports e-books in the EPUB, PDF, MOBI, and TXT formats, which can be transferred wirelessly via Wi-Fi from a smartphone. The back is magnetic, allowing the Xteink X4 Classic to be attached to the back of a smartphone for easier transport.
