Compact iReader e-reader launches with up to 2TB storage support

Initially showcased in late August 2026, the Tango 2S has been officially launched in China. This iReader e-reader comes with the Carta 1300 E Ink panel, known for having the ability to display 16 shades of grey.

While this panel was initially introduced as a 7-inch screen, iReader has opted for the 5.84-inch variant, which keeps the form factor compact. Specifically, the Tango 2S measures 77.8mm in width, and thanks to its 7.7mm thickness and around 147 grams (about 0.33lbs) in weight, it should easily fit in pockets.

The display has 30 different brightness and color temperature levels, which should lead to a comfortable reading experience regardless of the surrounding lights. iReader also highlights the support for up to 2TB storage through the dedicated microSD card slot (Lexar 1TB Play curr. $157.52 on Amazon).

Of course, the internal 64GB of storage should be plenty for most users. Speaking of which, the e-reader is powered by an 8-core SoC that’s paired with 4GB of RAM. iReader says that the CPU and GPU are powerful enough to deliver a smooth overall experience.

A 3,900mAh battery powers this E Ink device, and iReader says that the Tango 2S can offer up to 109 hours of runtime. Other highlights include a clock screen saver feature, customizable home button, support for multiple eBook formats, and a sleek design.

In China, the iReader Tango 2S has a launch price of CNY 1,599, about $238. The company doesn’t have much presence in the global market, but the new e-reader could soon become available through platforms like AliExpress.
