The GamePix 900 projector launched a little over a month ago. To recap, the GamePix 900 arrived at a discounted $599 launch price for the first 1,000 orders placed globally. With that offer still available on 490 units at the time of publication, Philips and Screeneo have decided to introduce a different option in the GamePix lineup at an identical price point.
Specifically, the pair have announced the GamePix 800 Smart, which will go on sale from next month. In a press release, Philips describes the GamePix 800 Smart as creating between 70-inch and 150-inch images with a 1.49:1 throw rate. In other words, the GamePix 800 Smart will need to be placed at least 1.65 metres away from a wall to create a 70-inch image.
The projector also outputs at 1080p with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 8 ms of input lag. Moreover, the projector achieves up to 2,500 ANSI lumens from its LED light source, which Philips rates for up to 30,000 hours of usage. The projector boasts 98% Rec. 709 colour space coverage too, although this is worse than the cheaper Jmgo N1 (curr. $599 on Amazon). The GamePix Smart 800 will launch next month for £999, which will likely correlate with $999 pricing in the US.
