Philips Hue releases app update with new customization feature

Philips Hue app version 5.63.0 has arrived for iOS and Android. It has been released a couple of weeks after the version 5.62.0 update, which landed in early March 2026. This earlier release brought a new tool to allow users to adjust the orientation of Gradient lights, like the Hue Gradient Lightstrip ambiance (curr. $148.49 at Amazon).
The official release notes for the Philips Hue app version 5.63.0 are minimal, purely stating that it brings “various bug fixes and stability improvements”. However, HueBlog has spotted an unannounced new feature: the ability to remove the Hue AI Assistant. This tool is designed to help users create custom dynamic lighting effects based on voice or text prompts. Initially only available for English language users, this function is also now available for those who speak Spanish, German and Dutch.
Typically, users access the Philips Hue AI Assistant using an icon in the bottom right corner of the home screen. Now, in the app’s settings, you can disable the Floating AI Assistant. To do this, go to Settings > App preferences > Floating search button. It is also worth noting that, here, you can also switch off the Hue shop shortcut and the Home switch, two other features of the Home tab.
You can now download the Philips Hue app version 5.63.0 from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
