OnePlus released its first smart TV series (the Q1 and Q1 Pro) this year. Now, it has unveiled a new accessory for it: an alternate remote control with a Netflix-branded button. However, existing customers can get it for free.

OnePlus launched its first generation of smart TVs in 2019. Known as the Q1 series, it is a 55-inch 4K QLED device with the Android OS and a Pro variant (which has extra speakers). It came with a remote control called the RC-001A. However, there is now a different version of this accessory.

This remote, the RC-002A, has a rather different design and button layout. This includes a prominent Netflix-branded button, like that of the new NVIDIA SHIELD TV series. In addition, it has a relatively large polycarbonate shell, as opposed to the original, which may have caught criticism for its close resemblance to the Apple TV's own remote.

Those with a OnePlus Q1 unit and who wish to have this remote rather than the one it came with are in luck. The OEM has announced that these customers can order it for free. This requires that the consumer in question register their TV's serial number with the company, which will grant access to an invite code (quite the throwback to the One days when the company was starting out) that allows the user to buy their RC-002A for no money.

To date, this appears to apply to the Indian market, one of the few in which the OnePlus TV is currently sold. In addition, it is not known if the new remote's dedicated buttons can be re-mapped, as they can for those of other brands.
