The OnePlus 8 Pro's latest leak points to a 120Hz display and 50W charging
OnePlus is likely to release the 8 series of smartphones in 2020. It has already become the focus of leaks that purport to confirm an earlier rumor that the OEM would finally adopt wireless charging and IP ratings in its flagships with this generation. They also appear to confirm the existence of a Lite variant for next year.
This phone, the OnePlus 8 Lite, will allegedly run on the new MediaTek Dimensity 1000L processor. This SoC may have featured in its first benchmark test recently, in which it was observed to beat the Snapdragon 765G in some important respects. This leak, which emanates from the same disputed source as that for the 8 variant, also alleges that it will have a 6.4-inch FHD+ display. It appears there is no LPDDR5 RAM or USB 3.1 for the Lite, however.
The same is not said for the most premium 8 Pro, however. Not only does it get the Snapdragon 865 chipset with a 5G X55 modem, its display will be a 1440p 6.7-inch display with a next-gen 120Hz refresh rate. The leak also asserts that OnePlus will introduce a successor for Warp Charge 30T with this phone. Known as Super Warp, it is listed as capable of filling the "8 Pro's" 4500mAh battery at a rate of 50 watts (W).
Therefore, as with the "OnePlus 8" counterpart to this leak, it appears packed with features that many fans of this OEM may expect. On the other hand, should it ever prove valid, the sudden inclusion of a new SoC from a second manufacturer may have a negative impact on the company's current reputation for more timely Android updates. In addition, as with the first part of this leak, the 2 specs sheets fail to make any mention of a headphone jack.
