OnePlus teases a CES 2020 "special event"
OnePlus has become a recognizable smartphone brand, and has developed a double round of flagship releases per year. Despite this, however, it has never gone to CES before. The upcoming 2020 iteration of this tech conference will change that, apparently.
The OEM has reportedly sent out promotional material for a "special event" to take place in Las Vegas from "1.7-1.0". Presuming this is a typo and is supposed to read "1.7-1.10", we can presume it means 7-10 January 2020. However, it is not taking place in the city's conference center, where CES is typically held, but in the Wynn Hotel located nearby instead.
OnePlus' CEO, Pete Lau, has responded to assumptions to this effect on Twitter with the phrase "We'll show you something special. See you in Las Vegas". This appears to be a tacit confirmation that the company will indeed host a CES-related event next year.
To date, there is no word as to what exactly is to be disclosed at this show. However, given that it is way out of step with OnePlus' normal launch schedule, it is possible that the subject here will be the 8 Lite, the nearly-unprecedented mid-ranger currently rumored to be in development by this OEM.
