OnePlus 12 rumoured to outshine Google Pixel 8 Pro with new ultra-bright display
Digital Chat Station has shared more details about the OnePlus 12, likely the company's only flagship throughout late 2023 and most of 2024. To recap, less than a week has passed since the same leaker outlined camera upgrades for the OnePlus 12, which we have detailed separately. In summary, the follow-up to the OnePlus 11 is expected to arrive with new primary, telephoto and front-facing cameras.
Additionally, Digital Chat Station claims that OnePlus will equip its next flagship with an upgraded display. For context, the OnePlus 11 has a 6.7-inch LTPO panel that outputs at 1440p with 1,300 nits peak brightness. Reportedly, the OnePlus 12 will span an additional 0.12-inches, thus making the device slightly wider than its predecessor.
Arguably, the most eye-catching improvement will be the display's 2,600-nit rumoured peak brightness. In other words, the OnePlus 12 could get 200 nits brighter than the Pixel 8 Pro, which outperforms most other global flagships. Digital Chat Station adds that the panel will output at 3,168 x 1,440 pixels with 120 Hz refresh and 2,160 Hz PWM dimming rates.
As far as we can tell, the OnePlus 12 contains an updated version of the display that ships in the Oppo Find X6 Pro, also a 6.82-inch and 2,600-nit capable panel. Incidentally, Digital Chat Station believes that OnePlus will offer the OnePlus 12 with up to 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, which would be another upgrade over the 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage available with the OnePlus 11. Currently, OnePlus is expected to announce the OnePlus 12 later this year in China, but not until early 2024 in other markets.
