A Swiss luxury watchmaker, Omega, has expanded its Seamaster Planet Ocean collection by launching a new Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer timepiece. The company introduced two versions under the Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer, one with a turquoise accent and the other with monochromatic black and white.
The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer follows the same aesthetic as the Deep Black series, featuring a 45.5 mm brushed ceramic case with dual crowns at the 3 and 10 o’clock positions. The crown at 3 o'clock allows you to set and wind the watch, and the crown at 10 o'clock is for the helium escape valve. The black case is finished with a unidirectional ceramic bezel made using laser ablation. Plus, the bezel also features a diving scale with polished-finish elevated numerals.
The main appeal of the timepiece is its black dial, which is very different from the rest of the Deep Black series. With a grade 5 titanium surface, the Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer's black dial is adorned with a laser-ablated topographical map (depiction of Earth as seen from above the North Pole) at the center and a rotating 24-hour disc. With a brass outer ring, the dial also contains the applied hour markers, the city ring, a date window at 6 o’clock, and a honeycomb texture. The hands, indices, and applied hour markers are coated in Super-LumiNova, which emits a shade of light blue. There’s a minute hand and a luminous dot for the 60-minute marker, which emits a green light shade.
Inside the Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer is the Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8938 automatic movement, which runs at a frequency of 25,500 vph (vibrations per hour), features 38 jewels, and offers a reserve of 60 hours. The company’s METAS-certified movement guarantees accuracy between 0 and +5 seconds a day while offering 15,000 gauss magnetic resistance as the Seamaster Diver 300M. The timepiece also has an impressive 600 m (~2,000 ft) of water resistance, making it suitable for diving.
Available in deep black with turquoise or gray accents, the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer has a retail price of €16,400/$14,800. The timepiece is now available for purchase via Omega’s official website.
