Several Alienware m15 R5 laptops are apparently reporting just 4,608 CUDA cores for the RTX 3070 Laptop GPU instead of 5,120. Apart from the CUDA cores, even the clocks, TMUs, and pixel fillrates are being reported to be lower than normal leading to performance loss. Currently, a possible workaround is to flash the VBIOS from an m15 R4 that seems to restore the correct values and performance.

NVIDIA is bringing its DLSS image upscaling technology to Linux users via Proton. This will enable supported games on Linux to leverage the Tensor cores on RTX GPUs for AI-based supersampling. NVIDIA said that DLSS will be enabled for Vulkan games this month followed by DirectX titles in the fall.

Firefox 89 launches with a redesigned interface

Released earlier today, Firefox 89 comes with a clean design "is easy on the eyes, bright and buoyant on screens of all sizes" across multiple platforms. The list of visual changes is pretty long and includes a new icon set crisp typography, streamlined toolbar and menus, a new look for tabs, expanded privacy protections, and more.

LG and Samsung tipped to supply Apple with OLED displays for iPhone 13 series; 120 Hz and LTPO panels already in production

According to a report, Samsung has started manufacturing LTPO and 120 Hz displays, presumably for the iPhone 13 Pro series. The pair are expected to arrive in September alongside the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. All iPhone 13 models are believed to have OLED displays.

iPhone 13 series battery capacities revealed by a new leak

The iPhone 13 Pro Max is slated to ship with a much larger battery compared to its predecessor, according to a new leak. It will allegedly feature a 4,325mAh cell, which is significantly higher than the 3,687mAh unit on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will both run 3,095mAh batteries.
