Huawei has updated two of its older smartwatches, the Watch GT 2 and Watch GT 2e. The pair have started receiving their updates in China first, before an eventual global rollout.

Huawei may have replaced the Watch GT 2 and GT 2e with newer models, but it continues to update the pair globally. This month, the company has brought new features to both via firmware 11.0.14.57 for the Watch GT 2 and 11.0.14.17SP1 for the GT 2e.

Both updates are available to download through the Huawei Health app. Huawei Central notes that both updates are rolling out in China first before an eventual global rollout. Typically, Huawei takes a few weeks or up to a month to distribute updates globally once it has issued them in China.

According to Huawei Central, the Watch GT 2 now supports the installation of third-party apps via the AppGallery. You can download heart health monitoring apps too, which was not possible previously. Additionally, firmware 11.0.14.57 includes several system stability optimisations.

Apparently, the GT 2e has received the same changes and optimisations. Unfortunately, it is unclear for how much longer Huawei will support the pair.
