New Microsoft Surface Laptop releases to surpass older models with major OLED display upgrade

Earlier this week, Roland Quandt and WinFuture shared initial details about Microsoft's plans for its Surface Laptop and Surface Pro ranges. Now, Windows Central has expanded upon the pair's previous report with additional information of its own.
To recap, Quandt claimed that a new Surface Pro 2-in-1 would be joined by a successor to the existing ARM-based Surface Laptop 7 with a 13.8-inch display (curr. $866 on Amazon). According to Windows Central, Microsoft will offset a missing 15-inch variant by adding OLED variants for the Surface Laptop 8 13.8.
The website stresses that Microsoft will restrict OLED displays to its 'higher-end configurations', like with the current Surface Pro. Apparently, a 'higher resolution screen' is also coming to the next Surface Laptop. Whether that is tied to these new OLED panels remains to be seen at this point.
Meanwhile, entry-level SKUs will retain the same 120 Hz IPS display as the Surface Laptop 7 series. Please see our earlier article for more details about Microsoft's upcoming Surface Pro and Surface Laptop refreshes. Incidentally, Windows Central has offered a few hints about release timings for this year's Surface releases, too.
