The Galaxy Z Fold series is tipped to go Ultra for the first time in its upcoming 6th generation, a rumor with (nearly) consistent traction as Galaxy Unpacked draws ever closer. Now, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has reportedly yielded another potentially compelling sign of the new top-end variant's existence.
The BIS' decision to certify 2 new Samsung batteries at once might be a sign that they are for a new foldable smartphone. Furthermore, their model numbers differ from those most recently linked to the Galaxy Z Fold series: EB-BF959ABE and EB-BF959ABY, whereas those of the Z Fold6 reportedly have an EB-BF956 prefix.
They do not, admittedly, correspond exactly to the Ultra's alleged model number (SM-F958), yet are considered too similar to ignore with the prospect of another all-new, higher-tier foldable flagship making its way to India in the near future.
On the other hand, the new BIS registration fails to ascertain whether the Z Fold6 Ultra will have a larger battery compared to its newly vanilla counterpart or not.
Meanwhile, the Z Fold5 still starts at INR 139,999 (~$1,678) on Amazon.in
