Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 to arrive without any camera upgrades
Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold phones are the company's most expensive mass-production devices for the year. While one would expect class-leading features from the series across the board, reality is often disappointing, and it appears the Galaxy Z Fold6 will arrive with aging technology—at least in one aspect.
As revealed by leaker Ice Universe, it seems the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold6 will make its debut later this year without any camera hardware upgrades in tow. Reportedly, this isn't a case of minimal upgrades; the Galaxy Z Fold6 will flat-out feature the exact same CMOS sensors as the Galaxy Z Fold5 before it. Even worse, the same held true for the Galaxy Z Fold5 and its predecessor, which means the Galaxy Z Fold6 will actually use the same camera hardware as the two-year-old Galaxy Z Fold4.
Reportedly, the main camera, ultra-wide camera, telephoto camera, and even the inner UDC selfie camera remain unchanged from last year's phone. While their sensors may be the same, we expect the Galaxy Z Fold6's cameras to still perform better than the Z Fold5, thanks to software and possible lens improvements. At an expected MSRP of US$1800, though, it's a tad disappointing that the foldable will seemingly be unable to deliver the significant improvements fans of the series expect. The rumored Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra may well be a different case, however.
Fold6 uses the camera of Fold5 from the beginning, so there will be no difference. But Fold6 Ultra may have changed.
