OnePlus has revealed the non-phone-related new device it has been working on: the OnePlus Snowbot. There are apparently several of these robots, which will be used to play games in which they fire 120 miles per hour (mph) snowballs at each other. They will take place at a special event later in March 2020.

Today, (March 3, 2020) the OEM OnePlus unveiled a new kind of device which it had had in development. Despite clues that suggested something of a more car-like nature, it turns out that this "project" is a robot. A very specific kind of robot, moreover: one designed to shoot snowballs at up to 120mph.

OnePlus has designed these bots with camera modules that look as if they could have come from its flagship 7T Pro phone. This is so one can see another, and its surroundings, obviously. Its sensors should also allow their control by users on a remote basis.

This, in fact, appears to be the intention behind their creation. They also have 5G connectivity, presumably in order to highlight the speed and strength of their response to player commands.

OnePlus has arranged a gaming session for these bots, to take place in Lapland. Those who wish to participate would need to be signed up to the OEM's official community website. The games will run from March 9 to 12, 2020.
