The Red Magic 5G is Nubia's upcoming 2020 gaming phone. It is slated to get a 144Hz display, the Snapdragon 865 SoC and up to 16GB of RAM. The OEM has also showed off its AnTuTu benchmarking score, which knocks that of the Black Shark 3 Pro off the top spot.

Nubia has been teasing its next-gen gaming phone extensively ahead of its release. This phone - to be called the Red Magic 5G - is thus known to have a groundbreaking 144Hz AMOLED display, as well as up to 16GB of RAM. It will also have the Snapdragon 865 SoC, which will use the X55 modem to confer its titular connectivity.

Recently, its OEM has also decided to show off what these specs can achieve. It has announced that the Red Magic 5G now holds the #1 spot on the AnTuTu benchmark rankings. This position had been claimed by another upcoming gaming phone, Xiaomi's Black Shark 3 Pro.

It had scored a total of 620952 points on this benchmark; however, the Red Magic 5G has outdone it with 633724. Nubia has pointed out that this may be due in part to its new physical fan. The last iteration of this series also has one, although it has allegedly been improved in its successor. The new version apparently goes up to 15000 rpm, whereas that of the Red Magic 3 can go only as far as 14000.

However, it should be noted that the record-breaking AnTuTu score is (of course) associated with the phone's top-end 16GB RAM SKU. Nubia will reveal the Red Magic 5G in full on March 12, 2020. This event may see a phone with a highly...innovative colorway released to Chinese and possibly international markets.
