A new leak alleges that OnePlus will reveal its early-2020 flagship phones in about a month from today (March 14, 2020). An avid follower of this OEM's rumors might have noticed that 1 putative variant has been left out of this headline. Another tipster now believes it will get its own launch date for later on in the year.

A Twitter-based leaker called Max J. has hinted that the anticipated OnePlus 8 series of smartphones has a launch date: April 15, 2020. This event has long been thought to introduce the successors to the 7 and 7 Pro, as well as a novel variant called the 8 Lite. However, the well-respected leak-mill WinFuture disagrees with this last detail.

It now asserts that this new kind of OnePlus premium mid-ranger will not be revealed for at least another month after the debut of the 2 new flagships. The 8 and 8 Pro are indeed thought to be Snapdragon 865-powered devices, whereas the OEM might make an unprecedented foray into MediaTek territory for their Lite counterpart.

This phone is thought to get the interesting Dimensity 1000L SoC, although conflicting rumors point to the Snapdragon 765G instead, or even the Dimensity 1000 (the flagship version of the 1000L). In either case, there is a distinctly emerging theme that OnePlus intends that all of its upcoming smartphones have new 5G processors.

As for the rest of the 8 line, it is more than likely that their allegedly next-quarter debut will be of the online-only variety. OnePlus did in fact experiment with a VR launch for its second-gen flagship: perhaps now is the time to take another crack at that idea.
