OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T to receive Android 10 in Q2 2020
Few Android OEMs provide as long software support for their smartphones as OnePlus does. While Google has provided three OS upgrades for its original Pixel series, only Essential Phone and OnePlus have committed to doing the same. With the former now defunct, that only leaves OnePlus as an Android OEM that continues to provide three OS upgrades. The company already followed through on this promise for the OnePlus 3 series and now it is almost on the verge of doing the same for the OnePlus 5 series, too.
Announced last year, the company is now readying to release the last OS upgrade for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. While it previously confirmed that the official release would go live in Q2 2020, OnePlus has now provided a more specific deadline.
Posted to a Chinese OnePlus forum, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T can expect to receive Android 10 in May or June. The mentioning of two months make us think the OS upgrade will not coincide with the third anniversary of the OnePlus 5, but we could be wrong. Either way, hats off to OnePlus for continuing to support its smartphones for so long.
