After months of beta testing, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are now receiving the stable Android 10-based OxygenOS 10 update. The update weighs in at almost 1.9 GB and delivers all the typical Android 10 features to the three-year-old phones.
Ricci Rox,

Update: The update thread has now been published on the official OnePlus forums, with owners of both the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T confirming receipt of the update.

-------------------------------

The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T were released back in 2017 on Android Nougat. The phones have since received two major updates taking them to Pie, but are now receiving their third major OS update: Android 10.

A few hours ago, owners of the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T began confirming receipt of the stable Android 10-based OxygenOS 10 update. The update weighs about 1.875 GB and delivers Android 10 and all its features, with the software version number " OxygenOS 10.0.0.0".

Right now, we only have confirmation for the update on the OnePlus 5T, but we expect the OnePlus 5 to follow shortly, as it appears to be a gradual rollout, beginning in India.

It's impressive that OnePlus is delivering on its promise to provide three major updates to its phones. Only Google and Essential have matched that in the Android space, but Essential only ever released one smartphone, and Google is Google. It'd be nice to see more OEMs take a similar stance, as short software support lifespan is one of the major Android pain points.

Android 10 will be the last major OS update the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T receive, and we expect the phones to stop receiving updates entirely soon.
