OnePlus may have its issues but untimely updates generally isn’t one of them. The company sent out the stable Pie update to the OnePlus 6 back in September and has now begun the Pie rollout for its last-gen devices, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.
The update is, of course, a gradual rollout, so users of the devices shouldn’t panic if they don’t receive it immediately. The OTA, at least on the OnePlus 5, comes in as a 1.7 GB download. Notable features include a new Do Not Disturb mode, Integrated Google Lens, and a new Gaming Mode 3.0. Users have already confirmed receipt of the OTA.
The OnePlus 5 and 5T were launched on Android Nougat, the 5T being particularly annoying since Oreo had been available for months by the time it was released. The devices received Oreo around this time last year, and this Pie update will be the second and, most likely, the last major update they receive.
Of course, OnePlus has confirmed that the 3T will receive Pie too, so there's a slim chance the 5T gets a similar treatment with Android Q next year. We wouldn't count on it, though.
