OnePlus launched the new OnePlus 6T a few months ago. The device has apparently sold very well, with OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirming in an interview that the 6T has seen A 249% advantage in sales over the OnePlus 6 in the US.
Of course, there’s a reason for that. OnePlus, for the first time ever, sold its new flagship under the banners of a carrier. The US smartphone market is primarily dominated by the carrier sales model, and selling the OnePlus 6T under T-Mobile was always going to boost sales. There’s also the fact that OnePlus introduced a trade-in program that allowed up to US$300 to be shaved off from the 6T’s MSRP.
India is OnePlus’s biggest market, as the company’s devices dominate the premium segment of the market. The Chinese company will be hoping that the success of the OnePlus 6T in the US will serve as a foundation for growth in the North American market.
