Some OnePlus 8 Pro handsets have been downgraded to DRM Widevine L3 by a recent OxygenOS update. There is no fix in sight despite being confirmed by OnePlus and fans have been voicing their dissatisfaction about it.

OnePlus has confirmed that some OnePlus 8 Pro handsets have been downgraded to DRM Widevine L3 after a software update. Seemingly occurring following the upgrade to OxygenOS 10.5.5, the bug means that some units can no longer stream DRM protected content from Amazon Prime Video or Netflix in HD.

According to several posts across OnePlus forums, Reddit and Twitter, the bug persists in OxygenOS 10.5.6. While not affecting all handsets, there are multiple reports of it affecting those with locked bootloaders.

OnePlus is yet to announce a workaround or fix to return L1 certification to affected OnePlus 8 Pro handsets. Downgrading to early versions of OxygenOS may be a temporary solution, but it is not guaranteed to work.
