Initially slated for late Q2 2020, rumour has it that the OnePlus Z has slipped into Q3 2020, instead. Likely arriving a few months before the OnePlus 8T series, the OnePlus Z is expected to be based on the Dimensity 1000, MediaTek's flagship chipset.

The OnePlus Z remains on track for later this year, but its release date may have slipped. Last month, we reported that Max Winebach and Ishan Agarwal were of the belief that OnePlus would release its budget alternative to the OnePlus 8 series in late Q2 2020. However, now Max J of AllAboutSamsung seems to be suggesting that is no longer the case.

In a photo stylish enough to be an official OnePlus teaser, Max J tweeted an image of what is a presumably a mockup of the OnePlus Z in between July 2020. So, the OnePlus Z may have slipped into early Q3 2020. If true, then that would likely put the release of the OnePlus Z just a few months shy of the OnePlus 8T series.

Based on previous leaks and rumours, the device will include a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC that OnePlus will complement with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. Those components, along with a 4,000 mAh battery, will power a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel.
