The OnePlus Nord will come with a 5G-ready Snapdragon 765G SoC
Two separate sources have confirmed that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC will power the upcoming OnePlus Nord. The first one is OnePlus' co-founder Carl Pei, and the other is Qualcomm. The phone will be released in India on July 10th.
Early reports indicated that the OnePlus Nord would come with MediaTek's Dimensity 1000 SoC. However, subsequent leaks painted a different picture and told us that the device would run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 756G instead. OnePlus' co-founder and Qualcomm have now effectively confirmed that the OnePlus Nord will feature a Snapdragon 765G.
Techradar sat down with OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei and talked at length about the OnePlus Nord. Pei said that the Nord would be one of many mid-range OnePlus devices. There's a dedicated team within the company dedicated to the endeavor. He adds that the phone was designed with three critical elements: camera, user experience, and OnePlus quality. The device will allegedly come with six cameras: two at the front and four at the back. It'll be interesting to see how it holds up against the company's more premium offerings.
The OnePlus Nord will be unveiled at an online event on July 10th. We can expect it to be priced at around the US$300 to US$350 mark. OnePlus has also indirectly hinted that the phone will be released in India first, where it will compete with the likes of the Realme X3 and Realme X3 Superzoom. The phone will also be one of the few 5G-ready smartphones in the region. It won't matter much, as India doesn't have 5G connectivity yet.
