OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro on Tuesday, which it has now followed with a separate launch in China. The company drew questions about the possibility of launching another device today in China, but OnePlus clarified that this was not the case. There has been talk of the company releasing a third smartphone this time around though, potentially as a spiritual successor to the OnePlus X. Possibly called the OnePlus 8 Lite or OnePlus Z, rumour has it that OnePlus will launch its budget offering later this quarter.
A new teaser for the OnePlus 8 has caught our eye, though. Published on the OnePlus Weibo account, the image looks like the OnePlus 8 but with one crucial difference. If you have not spotted it, then the device pictured does not have its front-facing camera where the OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro do.
By contrast, it is centred at the top of the display. Curiously, this is the same positioning shown in OnLeaks renders of the OnePlus 8 Lite. We have seen OnePlus tease this design before, too. Ultimately, this could lead to nothing, but it is curious that OnePlus would have got the design of the OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro wrong in a marketing image.
