In accordance with some leaks and rumors, OnePlus has launched its first ever wireless charger today (April 14, 2020). This device is also compatible with devices besides the new 8 Pro phone, thanks to the Qi standard. It is rated to power its new companion flagship by about 50% in 30 minutes.

OnePlus has a long and artful history of dodging the wireless-charging trend, citing reasons such as the potentially unsafe levels of heat and unreliability this newer kind of power-delivery to phones can cause. However, it has finally bowed to the pressure to join in in 2020 with its new Warp Charge 30 Wireless Charger.

This product can also act as a sort of stand for a phone while it charges. It may be useful to those who buy brand-new 8 Pros, as it contains the OEM’s proprietary charging technology, including smart coil management and purpose-built Warp Charging architecture. However, it also supports the more universal Qi wireless standard.

The device is presented in a white finish, which may complement some other new OnePlus colorways nicely. There is no visible fan here, although a grille at the back of the device may be for heat-dissipation purposes. The Warp Charge 30 Wireless Charger will cost US$69.95 on its release, set for later in April 2020.
