OnePlus 8 Pro: OnePlus' US$1000 phone may be suffering from a green tint display issue
It's not much of a OnePlus product launch if it's not met with a few quality control issues, is it? Previous offerings in the company's lineup have faced criticism—the inversely-mounted display on the OnePlus 5 is a good example—and it would appear that the company's newest, most ambitious phone yet, the OnePlus 8 Pro, isn't free from such shenanigans.
Going by user feedback on the OnePlus forums, the OnePlus 8 Pro suffers from a green tint display issue. That may sound familiar. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra was also reported to have a similar issue, although the company is now sending out an update that fixes it. Just like the S20 Ultra, the OnePlus 8 Pro seemingly adopts a green tint when the display is set to low brightness, at the 120 Hz refresh rate.
Unlike the Galaxy S20 Ultra, this may not be a software issue. However, users have claimed to be able to mitigate the tint by turning on DC Dimming. Switching to a traditional 60 Hz refresh rate also appears to solve the issue. It would appear that the issue isn't present on all units, as most owners don't seem to be able to replicate it.
Supposedly, OnePlus has acknowledged the issue and will investigate.
