OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 8 Pro back in April, alongside a cheaper, less feature-packed OnePlus 8. The OnePlus 8 Pro has been hailed for being one of the best flagships on the market, and even though it represents a big jump in pricing from previous models, it seems to be selling pretty darn well.
Over the past few months, it appears that demand for the OnePlus 8 Pro has been huge. Huge enough to deplete OnePlus' stock, at least. The phone has routinely been out of stock, leaving buyers with the regular OnePlus 8 as the next best option. Between May and June, the OnePlus 8 Pro was out of stock at most retailers for weeks. A few weeks ago, the OnePlus 8 Pro went on sale a few weeks ago in India. The result? Stock was once again depleted within minutes.
Of course, it would be silly not to consider the effect of the pandemic on manufacturing quantity and supply lines. The fact remains, however, that the OnePlus 8 never really got out of stock, while the OnePlus 8 Pro did. This suggests at the very least that demand for the OnePlus 8 Pro was a lot higher than OnePlus projected—and that's a win for the company either way.
