MSI has now released its newest mini LED gaming monitor, the MPG 274URDFW E16M, in the US. This monitor was unveiled at CES earlier this year and has been on sale in China since June. It's now available to buy through Amazon for $499.99, which is fairly affordable compared to recent OLED gaming monitors like the 240Hz MAG 272UP QD-OLED X24 (curr: $799.99 at Amazon).
The biggest draw for this monitor is its mini LED backlighting. It has 1,152 zones, which gives it precise control over its local dimming, which should result in less blooming and haloing effect around bright objects. It also boosts the brightness to 1,000 nits, enough to display a true HDR picture. Speaking of which, the monitor is DisplayHDR 1000-certified and covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
The MSI MPG 274URDFW E16M is also the latest gaming monitor to get dual-mode refresh rate support. It supports 160 Hz at its native 4K resolution but offers the option of 320 Hz at 1080p. The monitor is also said to offer a 0.5 ms response time, which is impressive for a non-OLED panel.
In terms of ports, it offers dual HDMI 2.1 with 4K/120 Hz support for consoles, DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB-C port with 98 W power delivery. It also adds a headphone jack and dual USB-A 2.0 ports. The monitor comes in a sleek white and black design with RGB lighting and a fully adjustable stand. Other features include a KVM switch and anti-glare coating.
The MSI MPG 274URDFW E16M is now available in the US for $499.99. In the UK, it is priced at £426.06, but it's currently available for £398.99 at Amazon.
