Asus has finally released the ROG 100W Gaming Charger Dock, one of the last of its accessories announced alongside the ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally (curr. $599 on Amazon). To recap, the company unveiled its new multi purpose dock in August with its ROG Xbox Ally (2-in-1) Premium Case in tow.
In short, the new 100 W model builds on its 65 W predecessor in two areas. As its name suggests, the ROG 100W Gaming Charger Dock can recharge a device at up to 100 W via USB Type-C at 20V/5A or Programmable Power Supply (PPS) fast charging. Incidentally, Asus does not mention PPS support for the older ROG Gamign Charger Dock.
Moreover, the ROG 100W Gaming Charger Dock adds a second USB 2.0 Type-A port. Both Type-A ports top out at 5 W (5V/1A) to deliver an apparent 110 W when all USB ports are engaged according to Asus' technical specifications. Unfortunately, a HDMI 2.0 port remains for up to 4K/60 Hz or 1080p/120 Hz gaming.
Also, Asus has cut the included USB Type-C cable from 200 cm to 150 cm for this generation. The ROG 100W Gaming Charger Dock retails for $99.99 in the US, although only Best Buy is stocking the charger there for the time being. Currently, availability for all other markets is listed as 'coming soon'.
