The 10-core Apple M4 GPU is a graphics adapter built into the 9-core and 10-core Apple M4 processors that has direct access to fast on-package LPDDR5x-7500 RAM (120 GB/s bandwidth) as well as hardware support for ray tracing and mesh shading and other modern technologies. It supports up to 3 displays with an "8K" resolution attainable on a single display. It also can HW-decode a few popular video codecs including first and foremost AVC, HEVC and AV1.
Performance
As our Fall 2024 Mac mini review confirmed, the iGPU is fast enough to run many 2023 and 2024 games at 1080p on low or medium quality settings. It appears its real-world performance is almost as good as the GeForce GTX 1650 Laptop. That being said, very few games have been compiled specifically for Apple silicon Macs meaning most titles have to be run via emulation layers. Some of them are displayed with visual artefacts as a result, or don't start at all.

M4-powered iPad Pros will be much slower in long-term GPU-intensive workloads than M4 iMacs, Mac minis and MacBook Pros due to the lack of proper cooling.
Power consumption
In M4 Mac minis, the GPU gets just slightly over a half of the total 40 W power budget allocated to the entire M4 chip. Needless to say, it has to be a lot more modest in iPad Pros where the entire M4 chip can consume ~14 W in short-term tasks and less than half of that in long-term tasks.
Just like the rest of the M4 chip, the graphics adapter is manufactured on a "second generation 3 nm" TSMC process which is still cutting-edge as of late 2024.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop
► remove from comparisonThe Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop is a dedicated graphics card from the Blackwell family for laptops, which was presented by Team Green in June 2025. It uses the GB207 chip.
Like the RTX 4050 Laptop GPU, the GPU offers 2,560 unified shaders (CUDA cores) combined with a 128-bit memory bus for 8 GB GDDR7 graphics memory.
Other features of the GPU include native 5th generation ray tracing cores, PCIe 5 support, DisplayPort 2.1a and 440 TOPS AI performance (thanks to the built-in Tensor cores).
The performance without DLSS frame generation should be similar to the old RTX 4060 Laptop GPU laptop GPU. The RTX 5060 is 21 - 22% faster at 115 W (incl. Dynamic Boost) in 3DMark tests (via Videocardz). As usual, performance is heavily dependent on power consumption (TGP) and cooling. Therefore, there will also be significantly slower models in laptops.
The chip is produced at TSMC using the 4nm process (4N). The power consumption (TGP) is specified at 35-100 watts (115 watts incl. Dynamic Boost 2.0).
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop
► remove from comparisonThe Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop is a mobile graphics card from the Blackwell family for laptops, which was unveiled at CES 2025. It is based on the GB206 chip, featuring 4,608 shader/CUDA cores clocked at 908-2520 MHz (depending on the model). The graphics memory used is 8 GB GDDR7 with a 128-bit memory bus. The RTX 5070 features 36 RT-cores and 48 ROPs.
Performance
Our tests show that the RTX 5070 Laptop is negligibly faster than the previous RTX 4070 Laptop (1-3%) in games and up to ~5% faster in benchmarks. However, MFG (2x, 3x, and 4x) and DLSS support can help the 5070 to ensure higher and smoother frame rates. The desktop counterpart is 15-20% faster, depending on the resolution (without accounting for DLSS and MFG).
Power consumption
The GB206 chip is manufactured in the current TSMC 4N process. The total graphics power of this model ranges from 50 to 100 watts.
