Lenovo has unveiled the result of its ambition to bring effective wireless charging to laptops at CES 2023. It is now a part of its business-class ThinkBook series, as a companion to the 13x Gen 2.
The Dock's Power-by-Contact electrode technology is designed to charge compatible laptops by up to 65W, found in a main deck next to a smaller secondary pad for additional accessories that can charge at up to 10W.
The OEM intends that a 13x Gen 2 can be kept on the Dock alongside something like a smartphone, keeping both charged at the same time - all while keeping the PC's USB type-C ports free.
Lenovo calls this concept the "Put-and-Play" approach to charging, asserting that it frees the user from the usual diet of "cable salad".
The Dock can tell when the laptop is placed on it, and ensure that the Power-by-Contact connection is at full strength, using Wi-Fi 6.
Its features also free the Dock up to support dual displays at up to 4K/60Hz. The Dock also sports triple USB type-A ports alongside a single USB type-C port, next to the Lenovo Slim-Tip jack for its own power supply.
The first-gen ThinkBook Wireless Dock is only available with certain SKUs of the 13x Gen 2.
