Leak reveals new 27-inch and 520 Hz OLED gaming monitors in the works for CES 2025
Just yesterday, we reported that Asus briefly revealed details about a new prospective gaming monitor. To recap, the company provided a look at the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM, whose model name suggests the inclusion of a 27-inch and 4K OLED panel. Unfortunately, it is unclear whether Asus has opted for a QD-OLED panel like the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM or a WOLED equivalent like the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP (curr. $1,299 on Amazon).
Based on the teaser that Asus shared, we should see the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM early next month during CES 2025 in Las Vegas. Now, ComputerBase has shared early information about another unreleased 27-inch OLED panel that will grace the 2025 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show too. For reference, there have been rumours that Samsung Display has developed a 27-inch QD-OLED panel that combines a 1440p resolution with a 500 Hz refresh rate.
In other words, the panel should be the successor to the 1440p and 360 Hz QD-OLED panel that now underpins many 27-inch gaming monitors introduced this year. However, ComputerBase reports that a 520 Hz and 1440p OLED exists that also spans 27-inches across. Unfortunately, the website has not yet received confirmation of whether this is QD-OLED or WOLED based.
Conversely, it claims to have been informed that at least ViewSonic will showcase a gaming monitor utilising this panel. Moreover, the company is said to be planning a new 4K OLED alternative with a dual refresh rate mode. We would be surprised if ViewSonic were alone in this, though. For example, if CES 2024 is anything to go by, competitors including Asus, Gigabyte and MSI will have other examples ready to exhibit, too.
