Gamers on the prowl for a well-reviewed mid-range gaming monitor will be pleased to note that Samsung's 28-inch Odyssey G7 (G70B) is currently on sale at Walmart with a whopping 50% discount, now available for just $299 on the platform.

The gaming monitor sports a 28-inch 4K IPS panel with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The IPS panel works well with decently low response times and great viewing angles, although its black levels are nowhere near as good as mini LEDs or OLEDs, even with the monitor's local-dimming feature, which frankly doesn't help much according to RTING's review of the G70A. Brightness levels are alright, with a peak sustained brightness of 314 nits at a 100% window. Samsung claims 90% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, which makes the monitor acceptable for professional use as well, contingent that users are willing to tolerate the subpar black levels.

The Odyssey G7 rocks VRR support as well, with support for both FreeSync and G-Sync. The monitor also sports smart functionality powered by Samsung's Tizen, so potential buyers can use the monitor to stream and consume content without requiring a PC. Adjustment options include tilt, swivel, and pivot, while the included stand is height-adjustable. Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, a few USB-A ports, and an Ethernet port as well.
