Tipster shares details regarding compact OnePlus flagship with Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and 1.5K display
Truly pocketable smartphones no longer exist, and most modern-day smartphones would likely be better categorized as 'phablets'. For instance, the OnePlus 13 flagship smartphone rocks a massive 6.82-inch display, which, for many people, might be just a tad too big. To serve such people, OnePlus is reportedly developing a 'compact' flagship smartphone, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
Now, of course, the rumored 6.3-inch display size is hardly 'compact', but it sure is significantly more so than its 6.82-inch sibling. The rumor, coming from seasoned tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, also sheds light on a few more aspects of the rumored smartphone. For starters, the smartphone will boast a 1.5K display and a 50 MP camera with a 1/1.56" Sony IMX906 sensor. There will be no periscope camera, however, which is likely in order to slash costs.
Digital Chat Station adds, that the product will feature an under-display fingerprint sensor, with OnePlus yet to decide whether to utilize optical or ultrasonic technologies. Considering the simpler camera layout, which is also said to be reminiscent of the Pixel's horizontal lens array, and smaller screen, it is safe to expect that the OnePlus 13 'mini', or whatever OnePlus names it, will be substantially more affordable than its larger sibling. But of course, whether or not these speculations lead to fruition, remains to be seen.
